Do I need to know how to swim before I try diving? You don’t need to know how to swim to do a Discover Scuba Dive as you will be closely supervised by your instructor. However, if you want to become a certified scuba diver, then you need to demonstrate that you are comfortable in water so a reasonable level of swimming skills is required. My ears hurt when I dive down snorkeling. Can I still try scuba diving? Is scuba diving dangerous? What are the chances that I will get attacked by a sea creature?
