Out of the Blue

Out of the Blue. Tuesday, July 04, 2006. Happy Birthday U.S.A. and Grandmama. My beloved Grandmama would have celebrated her 95th birthday today. Never was there nor never shall there ever be a dandier Yankee Doodle Gal. Why hang heads in shame and wring hands over what are considered to be atrocities toward the constitutional ideals of the U.S? Why not take up the banner and run with it ourselves? Do we only love our kids when they're living their lives as we would have them live them? They flow freely ...

Out of the Blue: Vocabulary lesson #1

http://dixieblue.blogspot.com/2006/02/vocabulary-lesson-1.html

Out of the Blue. Friday, February 10, 2006. The money you receive from the IRS at this time of the year is not. It is your refund. If you receive a return in the mail, it means you have either filled out your forms and mailed them to yourself instead of the IRS or someone else has mailed you your paperwork. Either way, you have a problem as that return will not help you pay for your vacation to the Bahamas. You fill out your tax return. You cash your refund. And don't even get me started on imply. Out of the Blue: Brush with communal disaster.

http://dixieblue.blogspot.com/2006/06/brush-with-communal-disaster.html

Out of the Blue. Sunday, June 04, 2006. Brush with communal disaster. So, today, there I sit with my head on my right shoulder so I can see something besides Mrs. Tall's beautifully highlighted hair. All's fine. In fact, I think I have quite the break when people put on a skit. Hurray! I can sit up for a while! Skits in church bug me! Eventually, the songs have been sung, the sermon preached (why isn't that"praught" if the past tense of "teach" is taught? Posted by Dixie Blue at 2:01 PM. Drop me a line!

Out of the Blue: For now .........the end of it.

http://dixieblue.blogspot.com/2006/02/for-now-end-of-it.html

Out of the Blue. Thursday, February 02, 2006. For now .the end of it. Well, it happened. My parents accepted an offer on my grandparents' house today. I'm happy for them. Truly, I am. After a year of settling the estate of my grandparents, they can finally see the end of all of it. The end of all of it. In a month, I'll go in there for the last time. But for now, it's still mine. For now, they're still here. For a while, I can still call it "Grandmama and Granddaddy's" house. February 23, 2006 1:55 PM.

Out of the Blue: June 2006

http://dixieblue.blogspot.com/2006_06_01_archive.html

Out of the Blue. Thursday, June 29, 2006. Tears of a Memphis Mama. They flow freely this week as the city becomes more deadly by the minute. As we approach the 100th murder of the year, we mourn the lives lost and families shattered. For a moment, I thought of lost innocence, but then realized that children living in such an environment never have the luxury of innocence. Jermaine Young, 17, was killed last week as well, in broad daylight. In a sad commentary on the violence that is engulfing my city...

Space Age Housewife: February 2007

http://thatsloanegirl.blogspot.com/2007_02_01_archive.html

Monday, February 19, 2007. Ever had a roommate? I wrote this as an exercise on a message board, and it's all too, too true:. You know, it's been almost 22 years, and I'm still a little angry with you. Maybe a lot angry. Maybe I should get over it, but the way you treated me and my belongings was horrendous, and I hope you have managed to grow up and learn some responsibility since then. That jewelry you took with you when did the fly-by-night move? Can I get that back yet? When you told me the police had...

Space Age Housewife: March 2008

http://thatsloanegirl.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html

Monday, March 24, 2008. The Space Age Grandchild is well on his or her way now. My daughter had a doctor's appointment today - she's almost 16 weeks and has lost another pound, but as she put it, is "expanding in all the right places." The baby's heartbeat was 160-ish. The old wives' tales will tell you this is a girl, but I'm an old wife, and I'm not sure I believe the tales. This Gramma business looms ever closer. It's really a baby! Space Age Housewife: October 2006

Tuesday, October 31, 2006. Happy Halloween to all who celebrate! I'm looking forward to ham soup for supper, trick-or-treat, then some warm cider with kettle corn and apples while we watch "It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown! Stay warm and be careful. Posted by Space Age Housewife. Tuesday, October 10, 2006. Happy anniversary to me. We've been in Idaho six years now. We left Minnesota early on Saturday morning, October 7, 2000, arriving in Idaho late in the afternoon on Monday, October 9, 2000. For ye...

Space Age Housewife: December 2006

http://thatsloanegirl.blogspot.com/2006_12_01_archive.html

Sunday, December 31, 2006. Strange days it's been recently. December was busy - we threw a party, the oldest Space Age daughter visited for a week, we traveled over Christmas, and we spent three days in a row feasting and celebrating with large crowds of people. There was no one quiet, moving moment, no tiny break in the action when I could allow myself to be washed over with peacefulness, if even for a minute. I'm going to try to take that minute tonight, somehow, at some moment. She spent the day makin...

Space Age Housewife: One of THOSE days...

http://thatsloanegirl.blogspot.com/2008/04/one-of-those-days.html

Friday, April 18, 2008. One of THOSE days. I burned my hand. I made a cake, a beautiful cake using vodka and Kahlua, and it smells like warm heaven. The hot pad slipped when I was pulling it out of the oven, and I have two burns on the palm of my right hand. It stings, and I'm a big baby. It's also hard to type when one's hand is wrapped in bandages. No, I did not consume any of the vodka before pouring it into the batter. No, not the Kahlua either. Now, perhaps, would be a good time for that drink.

Space Age Housewife: Wonderful, Wonderful Copenhagen

http://thatsloanegirl.blogspot.com/2008/04/wonderful-wonderful-copenhagen.html

Friday, April 11, 2008. Wonderful, Wonderful Copenhagen. Choose a city in a country other than your own, and tell us why you would like to visit there. That was the blogroll topic this week. Despite the fact that it was I who came up with this theme, I was stumped on the subject of my own entry. Would I go to Greece - Athens, perhaps? Would I sail the Mediterranean and bake in the hot Greek sun and eat lamb and stuffed grape leaves? Would I go to London? The other day, I watched Hans Christian Andersen.

Space Age Housewife: Sad

http://thatsloanegirl.blogspot.com/2008/04/sad.html

Tuesday, April 08, 2008. My girl left me a text message earlier. We had talked on the phone this evening, and some time afterward, she sent me the message. She wants her Mama. We are separated by some 1500 miles, and while she is halfway through her first pregnancy and in the midst of planning her wedding, I am much too far away. She wants to share these experiences with me. She wants me there. And I want to be. How could I not? Posted by Space Age Housewife. I'm in MN, and if there is *anything* I can d...

Space Age Housewife: January 2007

http://thatsloanegirl.blogspot.com/2007_01_01_archive.html

Tuesday, January 09, 2007. We interrupt this program for an important message. It goes without saying that what I miss most about Minnesota is proximity to my family, the important people who helped shape my life and love me no matter what. I must admit, however, that there is something else from Minnesota that I miss with a startling amount of regularity. I want some right now. I want Old Dutch potato chips. And some French onion dip. And a Dad's root beer in a glass bottle. Posted by Space Age Housewife.

Space Age Housewife: It's a Space Age Grandson!

http://thatsloanegirl.blogspot.com/2008/04/its-space-age-grandson.html

Monday, April 14, 2008. It's a Space Age Grandson! My older daughter had her ultrasound today, at eighteen weeks of pregnancy. There's no doubt," she said breathlessly afterward. "It's clear. We have pictures. It's a boy! The Space Age Grandson is expected to make his appearance the second week of September or so. Posted by Space Age Housewife. Congrats on the twig -n- berries! You're going to be the greatest space age granny ever! How cute- a baby boy! I'm so excited for you, so wonderful.

Dixie Blue Farm - Dixie Blue Farm -- Texas Registered Nigerian Dwarf Goats

Breeding, Birth and Kids. Meat, Dairy and Produce Sources. Welcome to our farm. We raise registered Nigerian Dwarf goats for show, milk, and pets. We are located in Lone Oak, TX, near Dallas area. We needed animals for an ag exemption, goats are cute and fun, so we got some. We developed an interest in breeding to improve traits, so we transitioned to a 100% registered herd in 2012. While we appreciate the hard work of well recognized breeders, we sought out "diamond in the rough" kind of places. Why?
