The Political Pagan: Needed: A REAL Sharing Economy
http://thepoliticalpagan.blogspot.com/2015/02/needed-real-sharing-economy.html
This is a blog that comments on both Paganism and politics in the United States, from a leftist-liberal point of view. Sunday, February 15, 2015. Needed: A REAL Sharing Economy. We who are the majority of humanity need a NEW economy, one that better distributes the proceeds of economic activity for the benefit of all. The response of those in the elite and of conservatives, libertarians and free-market fundamentalists is to scream, "Impossible! And of course, "That's not the way it is! It’s in Minsk.

The Political Pagan: A Little Poem: To Remember What is True Forever

This is a blog that comments on both Paganism and politics in the United States, from a leftist-liberal point of view. Sunday, December 21, 2014. A Little Poem: To Remember What is True Forever. To remember what is true forever. We dedicate ourselves to light. And in the wind. We are warmed by a fire within. We have come together. To remember what is true forever. And in the dark. We will raise a timeless spark. We will answer that ancient call. To remember what is true forever. In our hearts the light.

The Political Pagan: Denouncing American Authoritarianism
http://thepoliticalpagan.blogspot.com/2014/12/denouncing-american-authoritarianism.html
This is a blog that comments on both Paganism and politics in the United States, from a leftist-liberal point of view. Friday, December 12, 2014. Remember what happened to the Occupy Wall Street protests of Fall 2011? On the very same day in November of 2011, the mayors of many cities activated their police in a coordinated, nation-wide effort to sweep the protestors out of the public spaces where they were conducting their peaceful protests. What was their crime? Labels: Black Lives Matter. And its not ...

The gods are still here. Monday, June 22, 2009. The Perils of a Single Vision. Monolithic, Up To a Point. One of the elements of the Aristotelian tradition is the view that the ideal-typical human is of a singular type. There is one best way to be, one way to be perfectly virtuous. This coheres well with the view that there is one best way for the State to be, and finally, on Aristotle's view, a single Unmoved Mover whose fundamental unity is the telos. And the Aristotelian biology. Telos. Is dedicated t...

The gods are still here. Friday, July 17, 2009. Man, the [adjective] Animal. Aristotle may have gotten a lot wrong, but I have to join MacIntyre in recognizing the Nicomachean Ethics. As presenting a fundamentally sound way of approaching ethics. This is why I was profoundly disappointed by the way After Virtue. Dismissed the discussion of human nature and human goods found in book 1 of the NE. Thank you, Google Books! The various Paganisms each have their own approaches to answering what sort of thing a...

the gods are still here: Passing the Outsider Test
http://thegodsarestillhere.blogspot.com/2009/05/passing-outsider-test.html
The gods are still here. Thursday, May 21, 2009. Passing the Outsider Test. Atheist and skeptic John W. Loftus. Spends much of his time "debunking" Christianity. As I've stated elsewhere. I think it's important to grapple with the claims of atheism. Intellectual honesty demands it. One of the tactics Loftus uses most often is exhorting Christians to take the Outsider Test for Faith. Assumption of the truth of Christianity's claims is a kind of special pleading. So what does this have to do with Paganism?

the gods are still here: Nuclear Family, Cosmic Family (Filial Piety part 1)
http://thegodsarestillhere.blogspot.com/2009/05/nuclear-family-cosmic-family.html
The gods are still here. Friday, May 29, 2009. Nuclear Family, Cosmic Family (Filial Piety part 1). If there is any idea fundamental to modern Paganism, it is that the ideas, values, and religious expressions of the ancient, pre-Christian world have something valuable to contribute to the present day. While I cannot speak for anyone else, I believe that pursuing the virtues is an essential part of my religion. How can I adequately honor the gods if I cannot keep my own life on the right path? So what hap...

The gods are still here. Tuesday, December 30, 2008. I've been thinking about doing this blogging thing. For a while. Here, then, are my first tentative steps in that direction. At the time of this writing, I haven't even finished setting up the basic requirements. The current template is highly tentative. The blogroll isn't finished. I have no idea how the page will look when I'm done. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). KALLISTI: An Apple in Pandemonium. Dreaming the Future Closer.
