Haiku Sonnets – haiku streak
https://dmarshall58.wordpress.com/haiku-sonnets
Another haiku a day site. The haiku sonnet is an experimental form I’ve been working in since 2001. Formally, it combines four haiku and a final two-line “couplet” consisting of seven syllable and/or five syllable lines, making 14 lines. Conceptually, it’s an attempt to wed two like and unlike forms. To me, the sonnet. 8221; in sonnets, a “ kireji. Though I’ve written over 100 of these haiku sonnets, I’ve only included five of my favorites below, along with one haiku sonnet crown. They wait at the signs.

Madness/More Madness | Barbarianella's Blog
https://barbarianella.wordpress.com/2010/01/09/madnessmore-madness
Just another WordPress.com weblog. January 9, 2010. Some brush it under the carpet. Or try to lock it away. But it breeds within our human genes. Madness is here to stay. In packs of burnt out cigarettes. Some drink to drown madness. But then fill up with regrets. Some people will pay out millions. To search for sense inside their heads. I saw madness sleep with sanity. In Tracey’s unmade bed. You cannot lock it out. When you know it’s waiting there. Behind every cracked reflecton. But we do it every day.

Ideas, ponderings and poems. Doc Gurley’s Straitjacket. June 9, 2015. July 29, 2015. This is a dark one in response to the random title flash fiction challenge at Chuck Wendig’s blog. The title I rolled was “Doc Gurley’s Straitjacket,” and there’s probably a few places that could’ve gone, but my mind went right to revenge. Doc Gurley’s Straitjacket. I see the way you’re looking at me now. Listening to me, finally. That look? It’s fear. But no shame. Do you have shame in there, Doc? I know my eyes told yo...

Ideas, ponderings and poems. July 5, 2015. July 29, 2015. I delved into another flash fiction challenge from Chuck Wendig. This time a link sent me to a fun, random title generator. The task was to choose one of six titles and build a story from that. One of my choices was “Gift in the River” which has some potential. But when I saw this one, something ghoulish crept into my imagination. 8220;Jenna…Jenna…Jenna,” the hissing sound of her own name snaking into her brain. Not out loud&...She peered into the...

Ideas, ponderings and poems. July 29, 2014. July 29, 2014. I was thinking today, and certainly not for the first time, about why I sometimes feel so compelled to write. It always comes out sounding cheesy or exaggerated, but the truth is recently I have been moved to write because I have to. There is no other way to explain it. I have something in me that I want to express. But then the question becomes, why? What do I hope my words, thoughts, images will do or be once they’re out there? Poem: Out of the...
