Do All The Science!: January 2011

http://doallthescience.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

Do All The Science! Monday, January 31, 2011. Things in full swing. My lack of posting is mostly due to the fact that I'm having a hard time figuring out what, if anything, I'm trying to say in my posts. To be honest, my posts feel like a whole lotta jabbering on about nothing.but oh what the hell. Of what happens when anaerobes over-grow in 1L flasks. I take that back now. It's really frustrating to plan experiments while opening the 10 day weather forecast and wonder if your plans will fly or not.

Do All The Science!: October 2010

http://doallthescience.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

Do All The Science! Wednesday, October 27, 2010. The Graduate Research Paradox. I'm starting to think about spring semester, and I've hit a bit of a conundrum. You see, this summer was mostly squandered away waiting either for cultures to arrive or to get equipment to work with anaerobes. By the time everything was good to go, it was August. And classes have plagued my productivity ever since. I would LOVE to tell classes off next semester and just get down to the brass tacks of my research. I should cla...

Do All The Science!: December 2010

http://doallthescience.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

Do All The Science! Sunday, December 12, 2010. Surely NASA has a few grand lying around. The whole arsenic bacteria. Discussion is still going strong. There's a million different angles on it, which I won't go into detail because I don't consider myself at the level of expertise to explain it all eloquently. I'm sure a simple google search will yield better reviews of the whole matter. Ed Yong at Not Exactly Rocket Science. Has a few discussions concerning the chemistry side of things. Nonetheless, later...

Do All The Science!: Dare I say it....

http://doallthescience.blogspot.com/2011/02/dare-i-say-it.html

Do All The Science! Thursday, February 10, 2011. Dare I say it. The lack of posts have stemmed from the constant mental debate I've been having with myself. Due to some personal reasons, I'm questioning whether or not I want/need to push through for the PhD or call it a day with a masters degree. And no.the reasons do not include A) being pregnant or B) failing my qualifying exams as I haven't taken them yet. So, much to the derision of some, I'm seriously wondering if busting my ass for the PhD is worth...

Ethology Exposed!: Sexy stickleback

http://ethologyexposed.blogspot.com/2010/11/sexy-stickleback.html

Sunday, November 7, 2010. For biology nerds and J.T. fans:. That's right, it's a song about stickleback to the tune of "Sexy Back". UC Berkeley seems like a fun place. PS In case you weren't aware, here is what a stickleback looks like. Sticklebacks are great organisms for the study of evolution because they have evolved different morphology (and behavior! Not Exactly Rocket Science. Laquo; An entire world follows the march of the army ants. I've got your missing links right here (4th December 2010). Mono Lake bacteria build their DNA using arsenic (and no, this isn't about aliens). December 2, 2010 12:28 pm. Note: Serious concerns have been raised about the conclusions of this study. I’ve written a summary of the backlash in a separate post. Arsenic isn’t exactly something you want to eat. It has a deserved reputation as a powerful poison. Published last ...

Do all the things! There is so much to think about. Life is amazing! March 5, 2015. Media (social and otherwise). We are so connected now that we can know anything. We have the reach to see things happening all over the world. But for us to see it, someone has to publish it. Traditional media only publishes what they think will make them money. They try to out-do one another with the exotic and the bizarre. They are not interested in anything that is not bizarre and unusual. February 5, 2015. I was speak...

For His Glory

Our family's blog serving at the Calvary Training Center in La Gloria, Mexico. Thursday, May 15, 2014. An extremely belated update. We're sorry that it has been so long since we have published a blog post. We have been through a lot of twists and turns and changes the past couple of years, but the Lord has been putting it on our hearts that we should be communicating with our friends, family, and loved ones more frequently and diligently. Here's a bit of an update. Until next week family,. PS: Please let...
