According to the company's press release, the 2008 BMW 135i accelerates from zero to 62 mph in just 5.3 seconds and its top speed is limited electronically at the 155 mph mark. The engine's performance is further increased with the help of air-to-air intercoolers and on-demand engine coolant pumps, "which improve fuel economy and reduce parasitic losses for increased output.". On July 6, smart unveiled a fortwo with a micro hybrid drive (mhd) engine, a combination of an electric motor and a combustion engine, available both in petrol and diesel versions. The hybrid drive concept will reduce diesel consumption by 12%, from 3.3 litres to 2.9 litres per 100 kilometres, making it the most fuel-efficient car on the market. The acceleration time from naught to 100 km/h has been reduced by four seconds compared to the fortwo cdi standard diesel.
