Friday, August 1, 2008. Today we had the first total solar eclipse on Norwegian ground since the eclipse in 1954. On the mainland we observed a partial eclipse, while the day becomes night for a short period in Kvitøya (North-east of Spitsbergen). Read more. At our latitude we had 71% of the sun covered.
