Dog-Daisy Chains: The Big Reveal!

http://dogdaisychains.blogspot.com/2009/05/big-reveal.html

Setting out my stall. Friday, 29 May 2009. After what seems an age. I am in print and I have now received my complimentary copies of Quilting Arts . Thats not a complaint but it seems such a long time since I was contacted by Pokey Bolton with a view to writing an article.out of the blue. Thats me in the middle of the cover.retro inspired. I made some new pieces for the article based on pieces I had already done. And my sewing machine. And the contents of my little brain spilled out into stitch. 29 May 2...

Dog-Daisy Chains: September 2008

http://dogdaisychains.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

Setting out my stall. Friday, 26 September 2008. When I was a part time primary school teacher doing 3 days a week in the local village school I had responsibility for Art, Science, and, as it was called then, CDT. We had a staff of three point six including the head, and I was the point six. I went to Manchester University one day for a CDT course. The lecturer was very inspiring but I can only remember his first name-Cyril. So I've remembered them. Have I overdone it? Red hearts with gold elastic.

Dog-Daisy Chains: Woolfest

http://dogdaisychains.blogspot.com/2015/07/woolfest.html

Setting out my stall. Sunday, 5 July 2015. Two posts in one week? Well I have something to post about. Sadly I was so busy I only had time to take pictures of my stand. Detail of lightly mounted pieces. The suitcase is my 'browser'. Most went to new homes. The June flowers from my garden. And one or two white foxgloves from my neighbours' garden.well they're in Greece for the summer. (Sorry K&J if you're reading.yes I pinched them! There were others though. Just as sheepy, just as lovely and woolly. I had...

Dog-Daisy Chains: May

http://dogdaisychains.blogspot.com/2015/05/may.html

Setting out my stall. Sunday, 17 May 2015. This is rather early for me in May so you never know I MAY even do another. (see what I did there? Its because I have stuff to blog about although my photographs are now spread around various 'devices' and I'm not so good at syncing them so it gets more difficult. We had an afternoon out on Bank Holiday Monday to Glasson Dock and saw this lovely sight on the Lancaster Canal. My big news is that I have made myself a lovely new website. Last weekend I had a stand ...

Dog-Daisy Chains: Last day of the Month.

http://dogdaisychains.blogspot.com/2015/04/last-day-of-month.html

Setting out my stall. Thursday, 30 April 2015. Last day of the Month. Well it seems my blog has become a monthly event. So once more I'm just in time for the month. I almost forgot that April has only 30 days. Sadly some of those days saw the demise of these trees. The Methodist church is (are? Hoping to build an extension and after showing everyone the plans, and in answer to everyone's questions "Are you chopping the trees down? Opinion around and about is divided, with some people 'Thrilled to bits'.

124; Comments RSS. Posted on August 27, 2012. So I finally finished it, I sewed on the heart button, crocheted a chain for the closure and stood back to admire. Did it need something on the top? Or should I just let the beauty of the wool show through. I have lots of crocheted flowers and spent an age sitting them on top trying them out. The inside is lined in cotton and the whole box is stabilised by plastic canvas. 124; 4 Comments. Posted on August 22, 2012. 124; 1 Comment. Posted on August 7, 2012.

Shirley Anne Sherris: December 2014

http://shirleyannesherris.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

About me and My book. Tuesday, 16 December 2014. Adding to my Paris project. It is a long time since my last post but I have good reason for that. As I mentioned in my last post, we have been doing major refurbishment of our home. It just keeps snowballing and we have added many more things to do. This has meant that we are still not finished yet - hopefully sometime in January. I have still been managing some textile work and can post some of it today. I used one of these squares -. I make lots of seren...

Playing with food, fabric and thread. Thursday, 11 December 2014. For the love of sprouts. A bit of a bonus blog today! Not the ultimate flapjack, more the ultimate sprout. I'm on a mission to convert all sprout-haters with this dish, which we've enjoyed (hugely) for lunch this week. It's so good, we had it twice! 1 Get over-excited in the vegetable aisle and grab a very large bag of Brussels sprouts. I had 750g here, and that fed two of us twice - serves four, indeed! 3 While the pancetta and onion are ...

Originally he was one of Cromwell's capts. but I think he swapped sides after Charles 1st got the chop). We also found that they have put lots of sculptures in to enhance their Menagerie at the Tower exhibition which I loved there are some pics of them on my facebook but I haven't managed to find out how to get them onto this computer yet ,bad Chrissy! Monday, 27 January 2014. Ring in the new. The SDC really are a talented bunch and the operation very slick I even received a cheque for my sales this morning (that's in less than 2 weeks! So it will be choccy cakes all round tonight. The shop about halfway prepared. My fishy felt quilt - sold within the first morning. Some of my pictures also found new homes. Friday, 11 April 2014. It always seems rather a dichotomy that when you have lots of things going on that would be of interest to a blog reader that you never have time to actually blog about it- Such is my life at the moment , with about 4 different textile directions tearing at me. I am currently researching 18th century embroidery techniques and costume in connection with all this and when I have a sample to tease you with I will. At the moment its all note taking, drawing and photographing. The Craft...

Playing with food, fabric and thread. Tuesday, 30 September 2014. Teaching Tuesday - owls, butterflies and teapots. Goodness, where does the time go. Right. No messing about. We've practiced our free machining, and now we're ready to stitch something slightly more interesting than wiggly lines. How about a bit of applique? You get a sheet of Bondaweb. To throw away.only me? Make sure you overlap the pieces, you don't want gluey stuff getting onto your iron. I think this is Libby's piece:. Cut it out,.

This is my new blog. November 22, 2015. This is the plant I put in the ground last Spring. The picture is s bit overexposed, but the plant is incredible. October 17, 2015. This shows the front and back of a quilt I made for my grandson, Jack. His room is decorated with a camping and Boy Scout theme. The fabrics I used came from Hannibal, MO, the hometown of Mark Twain. The scenes are of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn. I will give him the book, Huck Finn with the quilt. October 13, 2015. October 4, 2015. It has...

Playing with food, fabric and thread. Friday, 20 March 2015. I've been so unbelievably slack with posting pictures of the amazing work happening in class, so now I'm going to have to pay for it with a massive post to show what we've been doing! First, way back in January, we indulged in my favourite stitchy exercise - strips of texture, sari silks and wot-not. These were then embellished with metal bits and pieces, in the following weeks, as we got more confident stitching on metal:. You can also stitch ...

Dog-Daisy Chains

Setting out my stall. Wednesday, 21 March 2018. You'd think by now there would be a sign of some buds on the bushes but its a very undecided year. Snow in Ballyvaughan was a wondrous sight but very unexpected and quite restricting. It started gently with a thin scattering,. But by the middle of the week it was deep and dangerous and driving was a not advised. That meant I couldn't meet my two lovely textile friends for our annual catch up in Clarinbridge. I'm teaching two days of felting then stitching a...
