Pin the tail on the donkey - The trials and tribulations of a fledgling poker player
Donkey hunter: Tough session
http://donkeyhunter.blogspot.com/2007/09/tough-session.html
Pin the tail on the donkey - The trials and tribulations of a fledgling poker player. Tuesday, September 18, 2007. Today I played a moderate length (by my standards) $40/$80 LHE session of about 9 hours. It was challenging and draining. This just ends up getting me in more and more difficult postflop situations when I do things like open raise UTG or UTG 1 with hands like AJo, KJo or be the 2nd or 3rd cold caller with a hand like K9s or T8s (when the hand only ends up being 4 or 5 handed to the flop).
Donkey hunter: Sleepy and the maniac
http://donkeyhunter.blogspot.com/2007/09/sleepy-and-maniac.html
Pin the tail on the donkey - The trials and tribulations of a fledgling poker player. Wednesday, September 19, 2007. Sleepy and the maniac. I played a lengthy 10.5 hour session today. It was actually not one continuous session because I initially started in the $40/$80 LHE game, and then dropped back to the $20/$40 game when the forward/reverse/current line severely declined. When the lineup improved, I moved back. Live $40/$80 LHE, 8 handed. Muck, Hero raises. KdKh2c, blinds check, Hero bets. Hero makes...
Donkey hunter: Perfect Perfect
http://donkeyhunter.blogspot.com/2011/07/perfect-perfect.html
Pin the tail on the donkey - The trials and tribulations of a fledgling poker player. Wednesday, July 06, 2011. Perfect Perfect.actually not - see edit at bottom). I have played live limit hold'em for about 7 years, and today I can "proudly" say that I have hit perfect perfect for the first time ever. (I have lost to perfect perfect 3 times in live play, and that ratio of just 3:1 is on the low side.). Live $8/$16 LHE, 9 handed. 4 limpers, Hero raises. Tc9d5s, Hero checks, check, check, MP bets. As you m...
Donkey hunter: Weak late street play?
http://donkeyhunter.blogspot.com/2007/09/weak-late-street-play.html
Pin the tail on the donkey - The trials and tribulations of a fledgling poker player. Wednesday, September 12, 2007. Weak late street play? Live $40/$80 LHE, 9 handed. UTG semi-loose passive (22/5/0.5). MP is loose semi aggressive player (30/15/0.8). Mucked to MP, MP 3 bets. Mucked to Hero in SB, Hero 4 bet caps. W QdQh, BB mucks, UTG and MP call (3 players, pot size 13 small bets). Ac5d4s, Hero bets. UTG mucks, MP calls (2 players, pot size 15 small bets). Ac5d4sJd, Hero checks, MP bets. In the actual h...
Donkey hunter: Getting paid off with tougher players
http://donkeyhunter.blogspot.com/2007/09/getting-paid-off-with-tougher-players.html
Pin the tail on the donkey - The trials and tribulations of a fledgling poker player. Wednesday, September 19, 2007. Getting paid off with tougher players. One problem that I am spending a lot of time worrying about lately is how to get paid off the maximum when playing in pots with particularly tough players. (The issue doesn't contradict with game selection issues as I've been doing a good job of this, but the good games still often feature a number of tough players.). Live $40/$80 LHE, 8 handed. Hero ...

Poker Sweet Home: March 2006
http://pokersweethome.blogspot.com/2006_03_01_archive.html
Married to the Flop. Thursday, March 30, 2006. When I used to get upset about things, and I thought that other people wouldn't want me to be upset, I would force myself to stop crying and slap myself on the face and say "HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY! I haven't written anything much here for a while? Because I don't know what the fuck to say! Should I become Veneno! And be the woman of your dreams? The superwoman who sets up HUC's while also managing a household and satisfying her man? Or should I be SWEETIE? So I a...
Poker Sweet Home: November 2005
http://pokersweethome.blogspot.com/2005_11_01_archive.html
Married to the Flop. Wednesday, November 30, 2005. What Would You Do? Last post I posed a number of hand questions and invited comments. Thanks for all of the great responses. Some of the hands had a consensus; on other hands opinions were wildly divergent. These were representative of some of the problems that I was faced with in my last round. I took a good hard look at them and decided that there was a theme. Position, position, position. Split between Raise, Fold and Call. How quickly positional adva...
Poker Sweet Home: January 2006
http://pokersweethome.blogspot.com/2006_01_01_archive.html
Married to the Flop. Friday, January 27, 2006. We're back from our Italian ski vacation, and I have to say: Wow! If you ski, you have to check out the Dolomites in Northern Italy. We travelled to Milan early on Saturday morning by the most discount of discount airlines, Ryan Air. Our tickets were 0.01 per person, per direction, which is a bargain by anyone's standards. Once in Milan we hired a car for the drive to Val Gardena where we were staying in the village of Selva. UTG (who had QQ for a set of que...
Poker Sweet Home: April 2006
http://pokersweethome.blogspot.com/2006_04_01_archive.html
Married to the Flop. Friday, April 28, 2006. A Few Hands with a Donkey. A one word message glowed at me from my mobile phone. Ah well, an evening of online poker was to be replaced by an evening talking about Poker with my mates at our local pub. Mrs. P-S-H was going to be there anyway, but on the other side of the bar. All around, a fine way to spend a Thursday. The first memorable hand went something like this:. The donkey limps in. In the cut-off, with 88, I raise. BB calls, donkey calls. Fifteen minu...
Poker Sweet Home: May 2006
http://pokersweethome.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html
Married to the Flop. Wednesday, May 10, 2006. I hardly know her! So, yeah, M-R-S- Psh here. Hubby gone. Wife out partying. What is it about beer that makes poker so fun? I got home late last night, ten minutes PAST midnight. My hubby was far away in Zurich, probably secretly at some Swiss poker room, playing a ring game with chocolate and cheese chips. Oh, the blondes! Any-hoo-ha. so since my hubby ALWAYS says "I'm drunk! I have to stay up for a little while. Can't go to bed just yet! Mmmm beer, good.
Poker Sweet Home: February 2006
http://pokersweethome.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html
Married to the Flop. Friday, February 24, 2006. Planning the Perfect Poker Weekend. Mrs PokerSweetHome is away for the weekend, and that naturally leaves me with much free time, a computer and some handy card rooms. What to do? After thinking long and hard I came to the conclusion that I would have to fill many of my waking hours playing poker, and the rest of my hours dreaming about it. Ok . I'm not really that. Hell, who am I kidding. Sure I am. Spend a bunch of hours on the Challenge. My second goal f...

Poker Sweet Home: June 2006
http://pokersweethome.blogspot.com/2006_06_01_archive.html
Married to the Flop. Tuesday, June 20, 2006. Now, some of you (perhaps two of the five of you still reading this weblog) may have noticed that my hubby hasn’t posted in a while. It should be noted that he also hasn’t played much poker lately. And by not much, I mean the following events have occurred:. 1 My hubby has been left, unattended, at home in the evenings and chosen not to play poker at all during that time. He said nahh and then proceeded to come home and watch T.V. Well, I have to say: it is a ...
Poker Sweet Home: August 2006
http://pokersweethome.blogspot.com/2006_08_01_archive.html
Married to the Flop. Sunday, August 06, 2006. At long last, I am back. It's been a while since I last posted, but I am back. A few things contributed to my absence, but if you asked me a couple of months ago if I would be away from poker and blogging until August I'd have thought you were mad. I haven't been playing very much in the last while, and the biggest contributing factor has been work. Throw in some travel, a flat move and subsequent loss of broadband and you get the picture. Other blogs I write.

Just Me Being Me...
Just Me Being Me. Saturday, October 27, 2007. Random Things, Random Thoughts. Out of boredom from studying for finals, I decided to delete all the previous posts from my blog. It was just an instinct There were too many names mentioned in all my previous blog posts. Its not gossip, its more like a weekly summary of what I do with my friends, but it just didn’t feel right putting every single detail up there. Some people walk by, not stopping to say hi;. Some people walk by, say hi, and walk on;.
