archy: Is Ann Coulter back?
http://johnmckay.blogspot.com/2015/06/is-ann-coulter-back.html
Thursday, June 11, 2015. Is Ann Coulter back? Yes she is and no she's not. I usually avoid talking about Ann Coulter. I find her attempts outrage liberals and charge up movement conservatives boring. Her act has gotten old and she hasn't done anything to freshen it up. I'm even starting to feel sorry for her. Coulter has a book to sell, so she's going to be shouting vile things for the next few months just to get attention. So, where does this leave Ann? Posted by John McKay. Who writes this stuff? John ...

Sunday, June 15, 2003. Archy is not an alter-ego. I don’t claim to be Archy; my own name is there on the upper left of the page. Archy was a correspondent who sent his peculiar views on the state of the world in the teens and twenties of the last century to Don Marquis, the editor at the Evening Sun. In New York. Marquis, desperate for material to fill his daily column, the Sun Dial. Was glad to print anything Archy left for him. Archy is my patron saint. Or rather, he is my patron cockroach.

Friday, May 22, 2015. The moral of The Three Little Pigs. It's taken me over half a century, but I just realized what the lesson of The Three Little Pigs. The "I should have said" that has lurked in my mind all these years has been to compare Horton Hears a Who. To The Three Little Pigs. Ask a kid the moral of Horton Hears a Who. So, what is the lesson of The Three Little Pigs. The progression is probably also important. It says, life is not black and white. The pigs show a grey middle ground....Subsc...

Sunday, August 02, 2015. Flaming plagiarism from the skies! I haven't done a good plagiarism story in a long time. I read the story about the press release in the British tabloid The Daily Mail. Toward the end of the short article, they linked to Huffington Post UK. A gargantuan asteroid is hurtling towards Earth, with enough power to wipe out life as we know it. A massive asteroid is on a collision course with Earth, and it is large enough to spell the end of humanity. Some cite a meeting between French...

http://johnmckay.blogspot.com/2015/07/im-best-and-why-that-sucks.html
Friday, July 24, 2015. I'm the best and why that sucks. She said yes, she thought that all the details been taken care of and I knew I was done. This was supposed to be a six to eight week job and today was the end of week three. So, what happened? Since 1980, American productivity has risen about eighty percent while pay has risen about ten percent. If the wealth created by that productivity isn't going to the people who did the creating, where is it going? None of that created wealth comes to us. T...

http://johnmckay.blogspot.com/2015/06/my-less-than-optimal-day.html
Wednesday, June 17, 2015. My less than optimal day. This morning, after arriving at my workfare job, I noticed that I didn't have my wallet. I tried to call my sister to see if I had left it behind when I put on clean pants this morning, but she was already on the road. I called the bus office to see if it was in the lost-and-found and they said they wouldn't know until the end of the day. On my way to the Italian sausage, I passed the butcher's case and saw thick-cut, porterhouse steaks for $ 8.88 /...

Thursday, August 27, 2015. Some notes on translating. So far I've translated about 2000 pages out of ten languages that I don't speak. Here are my top three problems:. 1 Though most of what I translate is technically in the modern form of these languages, the spelling isn't. If I actually spoke the languages, I could pronounce the words out loud and them figure out. I'm writing this to avoid working on a Latin document that is rife with sin #2. Get back to work, John. Posted by John McKay. Monthly Conver...
