しかし、通常、測定の際のパラメータは、探針試料間の距離や探針試料間に印加するバイアス電圧に過ぎず、試料の、より詳細な情報や過渡応答を調べるためには外部から新たに摂動を加えて応答を見ることが必要になりますが、それには解決せねばならない多くの課題があります。ナノスケールの科学技術を展開するためには、個々の要素となる単一素子を、それら内部の局所構造まで分解して、極限領域で解析制御を行うことが必要であり、こうした極限計測が可能な装置手法開発のブレークスルーが必要不可欠です。我々のグループでは、走査プローブ顕微鏡 SPM 技術を核として、量子光学など異なる分野の先端技術を融合させることによって、極限レベルでの新しい測定技術の開発を進めるとともに、これら技術を用いることで新しい科学の展開を可能にすることを目指し研究を進めています。例えば、光は、我々にとって、古くから馴染みの深い観察計測手法であり、構造や反応過程を解析制御したり、物理的な情報を得るために広く利用されてきました。 Http:/ dora.ims.tsukuba.ac.jp/.
