Doug and Lynn Visit America

Doug and Lynn Visit America. Sunday, November 8, 2009. Towards the end of. Blue Highways, A Journey Into America. Author William Least Heat Moon quotes Henry Miller saying of travel that “Our destination is never a place but rather a new way of looking at things.”. An RV’s constrained space turns out to be a pretty good place to confirm one’s choice in a lifelong companion. I suppose it could quickly disconfirm it, too, but I am lucky. Doug and Lynn Visit America. Saturday, August 29, 2009. Where the Antelope Play. Cattle, hay and the aforementioned pronghorn paralleled our path, joined eventually by river and railway. Huge fenced and gated ranches sporting signs like “Pathfinder, 10 miles east,” “Black Mustang, 5 miles west” kept popping up, giving us signal by fence type and distance that the term “spread” has greater girth in Wyoming than many places. For Saratoga, we thank David Bloom, our Hastings-On-Hudson host o. F early summer,...

Doug and Lynn Visit America. Saturday, August 22, 2009. We were getting bored with mixture of cornstalks and flat, yellow fields. Extending to the horizon. Corn. Wheat. Hay. Forever. The major question for the third crop – like “paper or plastic? 8221; – seemed to be “rolled or baled? 8221; We learned that the trend is definitely towards rolled since the rolled “nuggets” are more moisture-resistant than bales and p. Doug and Lynn Visit America. Sunday, August 30, 2009. Over (And Over) the Divide Towards Home. Regrettably, we had to leave Saratoga, WY and continue our homeward progress to the western edge of Wyoming at Evanston. In doing so we crossed the Continental Divide for the 6th time in five days. Going east, we had only crossed it once. So how, you ask, d. Id we get to six crossings? In our more modern vehicle we followed the Oregonians and turned for home, tracing their path down the I-80 canyon to the upper...

Doug and Lynn Visit America. Friday, August 14, 2009. F-150 and F-ever (baseball, that is). Trying to plan the best route from Ontario north to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, we toyed with passing through Detroit, initially without much enthusiasm. That is until Doug discovered that the Mariners were playing the Tigers while we were in the vicinity. This sealed the deal, since we had not seen our Mariners play all year – the first time this had happened since the club was formed in 1976. The plant now assem...

Friday, March 6, 2015. Finally wrapping up my record of the Whiting Family Reunion. Thankfully, the happy times were memorable, or I might not be able to recall much by now. :) My mom helped organize some fun times. My cousin Scott brought his "Commander Corn Dog" food truck to serve us all lunch. That was fun, especially for my kids. They would love that to be a regular thing. And no reunion would be complete without a watermelon bust. Or a fish pond for the kids. Or a ping-pong and tennis tournament.

Running with the Big Dawgs. Feb 27th, 2005 09:53 pm. Went to coffee at noon today with a few members of the scooter club. There were six of us there but two just came for the coffee and split when time for a ride. The few remaining of us decided on an abbreviated ride along the waterfront - one of my favorite solo routes actually and while it was fun riding behind a couple of guys on two-strokes was a little nauseating. I probably looked silly on my littlest scoot but I felt like:. Feb 27th, 2005 07:37 am.

Doug and Mae's Place

Doug and Mae's Place. Friday, March 16, 2012. Blooming Pollen and Weeds. We had a very mild winter and are still a few days away from spring but it feels like summer! Even this old Mulberry tree is beginning to shower us with pollen. Doug finally figured out where he stored the lawn mower last year. Doug is trying to remember how to start the mower! Doug standing ankle deep in the weeds. The weeds look so much better! Two of our Dogwoods are in full bloom. Wednesday, March 14, 2012. Monday, March 12, 2012.
