Zeichnen gegen das Vergessen. Manfred Bockelmanns Werke, seine schwarz-weissen Portraits berühren den Betrachter so direkt und tief, dass geschehen kann, was bisher ungeschehen blieb. Das Weinen um die Kinder, um die niemand mehr weinen konnte, weil alle anderen schon tot waren. Der Künstler leistet für sich und für uns, die Betrachter, schonungslose Trauerarbeit mit einer Ernsthaftigkeit, die mir, ohne Vorwarnung die Tränen in die Augen trieb und mich in ihren Bann schlug, als wäre ich hypnotisiert.".
