Leigh Parker’s Fulbright Research Trip. I am Leigh Parker; a New Zealander, a Graphic Design Lecturer and a Master’s student. As a result of receiving a Fulbright Scholarship I am spending the second six months of 2007 in the US. This is for a research trip that will count towards my Master of Art and Design (being studied through AUT). My base is Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – although the plan is to see a bit of the East Coast whilst there. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Pittsburgh an...

Wonder | Leigh Parker

Leigh Parker’s Fulbright Research Trip. I think I knew that something was a little different this morning, even before I opened my curtain. Nothing felt any different, it wasn’t like it was darker or colder or anything else. There was just something, so I looked outside…. Date : November 16, 2007. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. New York Thanksgiving | Leigh Parker
https://leighparker.wordpress.com/2007/11/25/new-york-thanksgiving
Leigh Parker’s Fulbright Research Trip. A big Happy Thanksgiving to all. It is now a couple of days after the big event – and my stomach is slowly recovering from the intensive food workout it received. Thanksgiving is a fantastic holiday. It’s all about family, making food, eating the ridiculously yummy food, great wine and awesome company. Couldn’t have been better. The day after Thanksgiving allowed for a bit more touring of New York. It’s bizarre – I had never been to New York before,...Hersey’...

Leigh Parker’s Fulbright Research Trip. Pittsburgh and New Orleans. Rather than spend the whole 3 weeks in Pittsburgh we did decide to mix it up a little and head south to New Orleans for a weekend. Although completely unplanned it happened to be one of the Mardi Gras weekends! Here are two photo’s from the Mississipi Jazz and Dinner Cruise. Laquo; US adventure. Date : February 25, 2008. Leigh Parker’s Fulbright Research Trip. So the daily temperature here is now between 2-7 degrees, a bit change from the 30 when I arrived. As a result the environment has changed heaps. The trees are nearly bare, but for the last few weeks the display of colour has been phenomenal. Nearly 4 weeks ago I was lucky enough to experience a quint essential fall (autumn) experience – a trip to Frank Lloyd Wright’s Falling Water. Laquo; An experience. Date : November 9, 2007. Well colour me jealous! Hello and we...

Leigh Parker’s Fulbright Research Trip. It would be impossible to be in the US and miss the fact that Halloween was happening! Caitie (lady I live with) carved the other. It’s a bunch trickier than I thought and next time I would go for a more simple design. It was a good thing the candy need constant testing helping me keep my carving energy high😉. Comments : Leave a Comment. Have you seen the exhibition? But at the location there was an exhibition running which was well worth seeing. Here are a few pi...

US adventure | Leigh Parker

Leigh Parker’s Fulbright Research Trip. This was my second trip to Washington DC, but to be honest I was more excited then the first time… probably something to do with seeing my husband Dale after spending 9 months apart I guess😉. Washington is fabulous. An awesome city with a whole bunch of history and monumental splendor. As Dale observed, NZ’ers could really learn a little about national pride and creating amazing spaces for both current and future generations. Laquo; A semester at CMU. Fill in your...

Leigh Parker’s Fulbright Research Trip. The 7 months I have spent in Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University is easily the best professional and academic experience of my life. I have had a fantastic time, made brilliant friends whom I will miss very much, taken on new information that makes my head hurt and enjoyed some very memorable socialising! Leaving Pittsburgh was hard. Luckily the lead up to departure included one great experience after the other…. Comments : Leave a Comment. A semester at CMU.

An experience | Leigh Parker
https://leighparker.wordpress.com/2007/10/18/an-experience
Leigh Parker’s Fulbright Research Trip. So I need to tell you a story about how I came to be in the US. Rachel (colleague from UCOL) and I first ventured over to the US in 2005. This was to attend a How Design Conference in Chicago. I expected it to be good – I did not anticipate how influential it would be. During the Conference I attended a Designing the Brand Experience. The Dove Campaign for Real Beauty. And the Target Pill Bottle. So why am I telling you this? Brian Collins was at the AIGA Next Conf...
