Michael's Blog: Public Transportation
http://mkaiser03.blogspot.com/2010/05/public-transportation.html
Monday, May 10, 2010. Many people in the United States use some form of public transportation. My question is: Does people using public transportation actually have an impact when it comes to the environment? In this paper I will focus on public transportation’s environmental impacts and compare that to automobile impacts. Also I will look at Metro Transit a public transportation network in Minneapolis, Minnesota and see how there operation works. Ebi, K., Mills, D., Smith, J., and Grambsch, ...Subscribe...

Claire's Blog-Media and Environmental Confli. Sunday, May 9, 2010. Mississippi River Water Pollution. The Mississippi cuts through America’s mid-section and often serves as a delineator between east and west. As the longest river in the United States, the potential exists for a great deal of pollution between its headwaters in Minnesota and its basin in the Gulf of Mexico. Concern over the water quality of the Mississippi River first came to public view following World War II. An increase in populati...

An Hour Before Sunset: Social TV
http://anhourbeforesunset.blogspot.com/2009/11/social-tv.html
An Hour Before Sunset. Facebook connect, joost, ABC's 'V', Hulu's FB integration. Or at least that's what Facebook spokesperson was inclined to say. It's perhaps the new way of appreciating the good ole' three big networks, by making them not so homogeneous but rather segmenting them and in that way, letting them back into our lives, one news package at a time. Yet, we must ask, can the TV stations afford to lose their viewership offline as we switch more and more to instantaneous viewing online?

An Hour Before Sunset: Electronic Ink
http://anhourbeforesunset.blogspot.com/2009/11/electronic-ink.html
An Hour Before Sunset. Suppose most of us, by now, have heard about the Nook or the Kindle and have probably even formed an opinion on the quality of e-books, or rather, the lack of concrete, tangible paperbacks. The implications of this technology are particularly important for journalistic giants, what with the anticipated "end" of newspapers and the likes. Did a good job investigating the subject and the author doesn't doubt that the development in e-paper could help newspapers back on their feet.

An Hour Before Sunset: Who owns what?
http://anhourbeforesunset.blogspot.com/2009/11/who-owns-what.html
An Hour Before Sunset. I found these graphics at thenation.com. They are simply shocking. For me it seems bizarre that three television news stations be owned by the same people that sell light bulbs, run nuclear generators, create jet engines, and hand out credit cards, and yet such is the case for General Electric who owns NBC, MSNBC, and CNBC. How are these things related? They aren't, except that they all reap profits. That's when the difficulties arise. Like who is funding our news. I have a friend ...

The news article I decided to analyze came from MSNBC’s website, titled “Experts: Australia Warming All Over” from Monday, March 15 2010. It deals with issues in global warming in Australia and the argument over the study putting most of the blame on human’s impact of the environment. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Media and Global Environmental Conflicts: E-Waste
http://avoigt01.blogspot.com/2010/05/e-waste_09.html
Media and Global Environmental Conflicts. Sunday, May 9, 2010. However the issue of e-waste, as is the case with most environmental issues, is filled with controversy. Many people believe this is an over exaggerated, over hyped issue that isn’t as bad as it is made out to be. Many scrap industries, and even the EPA, feel that the issue is inflated by groups hoping to gain profit from increased regulation(The Controversy). The United States EPA (yes, the same EPA that claims this is an over. A STEP TOWARD...

new media in our culture: November 2009
http://newmediainourculture.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html
New media in our culture. Monday, November 30, 2009. What has the Media all a'Twitter? At the beginning of 2009. Magazine’s James Poniewozik predicted that the social networking site (or micro-blogging site as it is also called). From what I’ve witnessed watching CNN. In the last 12 months this certainly seems to be true. The images of her tragic death were also brought to the world via amateur cell phone video. It would seem then that Twitter is a hopeful new conduit of information for journalists a...
