Collin's Fitness Journal: I Started... Again
http://logmyruns.blogspot.com/2009/01/i-started-again.html
Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, United States. View my complete profile. Monday, January 5, 2009. I Started. Again. I did it. I started my training again. There's no turning back now, because I only have 17 weeks to train for the LaCrosse Marathon. This week, I'm doing three fairly easy 2 mile runs (on the treadmill of course) just to get back into the swing of things. Thanks to Carol for pointing me to her blog post. I did my first exhaustion test on Saturday, and I was only able to complete 35 good-form push u...

Tri's and Tribulations: July 2015
http://trainingmo.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 29, 2015. At Long Last - requited love and pain at the Hardrock 100 - 2015. Sometimes driving now, I turn my radio off, and it feels like I am still in the San Juan mountains. Little Molas Lake environs. One of my favorite feelings during hundred mile races is to get to the 70-80-90 mile mark and realize that “Geez, I’ve been going for X hours, here it is MILE 90 and I AM STILL RUNNING! Hardrock Sister, Susan. Husband/Crew Chief /HRH veteran keeping me calm and happy. And then we were.

Tri's and Tribulations: July 2012
http://trainingmo.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, July 31, 2012. The best thing to do after running an easy and enjoyable and faster than expected trail marathon, is to go to another country and run another one the next weekend. I have friends that do this all the time. Baaaaah! This was my hypothesis, so it was necessary to test it out. And what better race to target than a race that is considered the hardest marathon around, and that calls it's finishers "survivors" - the Maraton Alpino Madrileño just north of Madrid Spain. Again I had no exp...

Tri's and Tribulations: August 2012
http://trainingmo.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, August 22, 2012. 2012 Leadville Trail 100 Run. It's a mixed bag. I could write about all the great stuff, and it would be OBVIOUS that the race was a success. I could write out the negative stuff, and it would be clear that I didn't do what I set out to do. Both are true. So that was one of my goals for Leadville this year. Push the envelope, and work hard even when it hurts. What does that mean? What will it feel like? If I'm hurting and manage to work 50% of the time, does that count? I met ...

Tri's and Tribulations: June 2012
http://trainingmo.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Monday, June 11, 2012. This was my 6th Run the Caldera. And I just keep coming back. Getting to do a catered run through the caldera satisfies that urge in me to get OUT; to get away from people. Sure, there were some 80 other runners, but after mile 3, we all spread out. I didn't review the times from previous years. I didn't plan how fast to try to get up the first hill. I told everyone it was a long training day, that I was taking it easy. And I still feel like I have lots left in the tank. Even b...

Tri's and Tribulations: January 2012
http://trainingmo.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, January 12, 2012. What happened to the rest of 2011? But the running was still good. Better than ever, actually. Not just faster - oh, yes, I did manage to get faster - but better too. The running has been all mine again, a great outlet for joy and frustration. I PR'd my 2.5 mile handicap by a minute. I ran Run Rabbit Run 50 miler (on short notice with little specific training) and finished in 10:08. That's a 2 hour PR. Here's to more of that! I was as antsy to pace at Hardrock as I am for the ...

Tri's and Tribulations: March 2012
http://trainingmo.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Friday, March 23, 2012. Gimme gimme gimme some protein. It may be the first question people ask - oh, no wait, the first question is "why the heck would you. The second question is, "How do you get enough protein? For an average, moderately active person, a vegan diet has plenty of food options that have enough protein. All plants have a little bit. Some, like peas and beans and grains, have quite a bit. How much protein does a very active girl need, anyway? But wait, there's more. The problem is, it rar...

Tri's and Tribulations: May 2012
http://trainingmo.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, May 31, 2012. And the build to Leadville starts. This spring slipped away on tip toes in the night, quietly and quickly. I'm not sure if I'm behind in Leadville training or not. I'm sure I should be doing more climbing. I'm sure I should be doing more speed. I probably should be doing more distance. I guess I think I should be doing more, period. Could this include battery changes in the lights? Things to include in the ramp up:. 5 night runs, with my new fenix lights - for comfort. Really ther...
