Andy and Helen's Birding Exploits. A regular birding update as we travel the world. DB6 Vendicari Nature Reserve, Sicily. 20 and 21 December 2012. This nature reserve in South East Sicily is well worth a visit. It’s a couple of kilometres wide and 10 kilometers long, borders the Med and contains brackish waterland, maquis and reed beds. Walk up to the reserve entrance (free at this time of year) and look into the meadow on the right, through the line of trees and bushes and you may spot half a dozen snipe.
