D J Booker: August 2008
http://djbooker.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Odd thoughts and latest news. Thursday, 28 August 2008. The Book Rolls On. I was delighted to get back from Greenbelt to discover I'd be sent a link to a new review. Young People and Mission. Book What was even better was the the reviewer. Had clearly taken to the time to read and think about the book! I'd imagined that the book was fading into history, so it was nice to see it surface again. You can find the review. At http:/ christianbookshopsblog.org.uk/2008/08/22/young-people-and-mission/. Of course ...

D J Booker: February 2009
http://djbooker.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html
Odd thoughts and latest news. Monday, 2 February 2009. To Blog or not to Blog. Since I arrived here in Oxford in October last year I have deliberately not been blogging. As well as working on my Masters I have been enjoying some space to think about the future. The old blog had vanished anyway, and I wasn't in a hurry to make the new one a regular thing. Facebook updates kept me touch with friends and a part of me was asking what I was blogging for anyway? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). For 10 years I worke...

D J Booker: September 2008
http://djbooker.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Odd thoughts and latest news. Tuesday, 23 September 2008. A few people have heard about the following word-on-the-web study, here it is so you can make up your own mind about it. The Bible supports slavery! Read those words again. For hundreds of years that is exactly what most serious Christians believed was the case. But they were wrong! Secondly, what are we so used to in our world that we think it's normal, even if God hates it? If we really have sunk to that level we are in such trouble words fail m...

Fleet Foxes: Fleet Foxes. Rarely been of the Ipod or CD Player - a very special record which takes the Beach Boys tribute and acappella idom to new heights. Liam Finn: I'll Be Lightning. Everything that might be expected and more from the Finn offspring - if you heard his previous work and where disappointed - lay that disappointment aside and buy this distinctive album - and yes Crowded House fans will enjoy it. For Emma, Forever Ago. Bon Iver: For Emma, Forever Ago. Andy (EDT)/ Shank, Barry (EDT)/ Toyn...

D J Booker: Word on the Web
http://djbooker.blogspot.com/2008/09/word-on-web.html
Odd thoughts and latest news. Monday, 8 September 2008. Word on the Web. After I left the project it had a couple of other editors who have combined keeping the project on the road with their other duties. I don't think I'm being unfair if I say that they never really had the time to keep the project developing as it might have deserved, and so it has really marked time rather than renewed its self since it began. To the question, as this morning I'm not quite sure. Word on the web. Word on the Web.

D J Booker: Grumpy Old Man
http://djbooker.blogspot.com/2008/09/grumpy-old-man.html
Odd thoughts and latest news. Tuesday, 23 September 2008. Okay, so I'm moaning.but I just wonder what the church is coming to when a gig by a Christian band is advertised as 'hey, come and see this band.they've just come off the biggest grossing tour by a Christian band ever'. Since when has pulling in money been a measure of either the power of a ministry or artistic value? If we really have sunk to that level we are in such trouble words fail me! D J Booker: Danger - This Poem Might Make You Think
http://djbooker.blogspot.com/2008/09/danger-this-poem-might-make-you-think.html
Odd thoughts and latest news. Wednesday, 3 September 2008. Danger - This Poem Might Make You Think. A poem by one of the U.K.'s leading contemporary. Poets, Carol Ann Duffy, had been withdrawn from an anthology for schools because of complaints about it. The problem? It tries to understand a young person who uses a knife by looking at it through their head. Http:/ news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/education/7594566.stm. Some young people do carry knives. How do we tackle knife crime? Little. Here was an opportunity.
