"Kae Pheala Lesotho": The King & I
http://ellamawdsley.blogspot.com/2011/03/king-i.html
One year in Southern Africa. March 3, 2011. The King and I. King Letsie III and I at the gym. A funny thing happened at the gym the other day. So there I was, working out. Pumping some iron, burning the calories, toning the bod. Suddenly, one of the personal trainers comes and hits on me. No, Ntate*, I haven't.". He replied. "Well, you know he's a client of mine I could introduce you". I replied. "Sure, Ntate, when? Well he's right over there, let me go get him." Was the personal trainers reply. We chatt...

"Kae Pheala Lesotho": Swimming with the Sea Turtles
http://ellamawdsley.blogspot.com/2011/01/swimming-with-sea-turtles.html
One year in Southern Africa. January 10, 2011. Swimming with the Sea Turtles. After three glorious weeks on a volcanic island deep that looks suspiciously like the set of 'Lost' deep in the Indian Ocean I'm back in Lesotho with only the slightest of sun burns and sand in the most mysterious of places. "Kae Pheala Lesotho": Dam!
http://ellamawdsley.blogspot.com/2011/02/dam.html
One year in Southern Africa. February 14, 2011. After an amazing day touring the Dam I returned home to Maseru, to find our house out of water. Apparently, because of all the rain, the government was having trouble with the pipes, and the entire city of Maseru would be without water for at least three days. "Kae Pheala Lesotho": June 2010
http://ellamawdsley.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
One year in Southern Africa. June 29, 2010. A narrowly avoided case of E. Coli. I drink a lot of water. In fact, I drank 8-10 glasses of the water a day, as prescribed by the Canadian Food Guide and health professionals around the globe. I carry a water bottle with me most places I go, and water with lemon squeezed from the freshly picked lemons on my lemon tree is my new favorite bedtime snack. And here I thought the cold weather was just helping to build character. June 18, 2010. Do Zebras have stripes?

"Kae Pheala Lesotho": February 2011
http://ellamawdsley.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
One year in Southern Africa. February 22, 2011. The Truth about Development. With mere weeks left in my African adventure, I spend a lot of time thinking about what I have done this year and what I have achieved. I left Canada last March imagining a wonderful world with unlimited potential held back by HIV/AIDS, poverty and a lack of quality resources. To some extent I was right. But there is so much more to Africa than I could ever have prepared for. This isn't my home, I haven't grown up here, and I ca...

life on the island: May 2011
http://paddyejmagill.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Life on the island. Wednesday, May 4, 2011. Lucky girl with another year in Paradise! My stay in Canada for the month has been awesome. It flew by but it was great to see all my family and friends. I surprised my dad for his 50th birthday by showing up for the party. Both he and my mom were expecting to pick me up in Montreal a week later. Best surprise ever! Ps This year I am going to try and be better with my blogging. I’m also going to work on my Kreol. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). My name is Paddye an...

"Kae Pheala Lesotho": August 2010
http://ellamawdsley.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
One year in Southern Africa. August 6, 2010. I am one of few expats who regularly use public transportation to commute in Maseru. It’s a personal choice, as I could probably afford to buy a vehicle but would prefer the experience of public transportation in Africa. And an experience it is. It makes for about a 45 minute commute in the morning, an hour if my timing is off. So, given that I’ve been here for a little over. Some of the highlights:. An entire crate of pineapples – They were delicious! Three 2...

"Kae Pheala Lesotho": January 2011
http://ellamawdsley.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
One year in Southern Africa. January 16, 2011. How to Run Like a Kenyan (in Lesotho). Allow me to explain. It wasn’t looking good for a finish, never mind in three hours. I began to eye the kombis that flew by us on the highway. All I needed was an excuse to exit – my cactus needs watering? I left the outhouse door open? My refrigerator was running and I needed to go catch it? At first I was relieved – a break! January 10, 2011. Swimming with the Sea Turtles. After three glorious weeks on a volcanic isla...
