Tri-alethlete: October 2011

Monday, October 31, 2011. Occasionally a coworker will bring a treat to the office to share with everyone, donuts or cookies or something, which positively makes my day. Nothing is better than finding a platter of deliciousness or a box of yummy goodness out on the counter in our company kitchen, but I hate, hate, HATE IT when someone just breaks a piece of something off without taking the whole thing. I mean, really? Thus endeth the rant for today, sorry it was sort of an angry one. A few evenings ago A...

Thursday, June 23, 2011. Where Have You Been? So normally this is about the time of year when my triathlon season would be starting to heat up, yet I'm sure you've noticed that the blog has been oddly quiet. You're probably wondering about the lack of activity, asking yourself where are are all the posts about training, racing, brewing, and the other goings-on in my life, and I figured I owe you a quick explanation. So why am I taking this season off? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Where Have You Been?

Tri-alethlete: September 2011

Friday, September 23, 2011. Last Saturday I metaphorically kicked myself in the nuts. Hard. This epic sack-pounding came in the form of a little workout called Fight Gone Bad, and it is oh-so-painful. Well it's not. After BJ tried the workout for the first time, he collapsed on his back at the end and said it was like "a fight gone bad." The name stuck. The five stations are as follows:. 20 pound wall-ball squat-throws (must hit 10ft). 75 pound sumo deadlift high pull. 20 inch box jumps. Yeahmine was 268...

Tri-alethlete: Off the Grid
http://drewsroadtoironman.blogspot.com/2012/06/off-grid.html
Saturday, June 16, 2012. Today Ali and I went to a graduation party for Ali's cousin, Sarah. It was a great time, we had an absolute blast hanging out with friends and family. The only downer is that my cell phone didn't survive the occasion. I looked at the screen and saw the words "WIPING" with a progress bar marching steadily towards 100%. When it reached completion, the phone shut down, then re-booted, at which point it was completely, totally, utterly fried. No phone service, no email, no wi...

Thursday, May 5, 2011. I predicted on that whimsical afternoon back in February. That there would be more visits to Munster, IN in my future and I was right. Last Saturday Jerome and I made our second pilgrimage to the realm of the Alpha King: Three Floyd's Brewery, although this time things were slightly different. I'll begin with a photo-comparison of the parking lot, see if you can spot the changes. Here's the scene we encountered on our first visit a few months ago:. In spite of the lines it is possi...

Monday, May 7, 2012. Pizza Hut Hates You. If any of you have ever wondered why the rest of the world hates America so much, I think we've found the answer. Following up on my recent post detailing Pizza Hut's nefarious plans to piss all over the people of England and tell them it's raining ( click here if you think you can stomach it. They have now apparently launched a gastronomic jihad against the Middle East. Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you the Crown Crust Pizza:. Not that we don't have our own...

Friday, January 28, 2011. Sometimes You Should Probably Pay More. Anyway, when I saw this morning's deal was for 57% off Lasik eye surgery I nearly choked on my granola. SERIOUSLY? A $4,400 procedure being sold for $1,900? Let's think about this for a minute. Eye surgery. Surgery.on your eyes. Cutting your eyes open and then burning them with lasers. Is this really the sort of place you'd want to cut corners? Is anyone really going to do that? Thursday, January 27, 2011. Hey there, Sports Fans! So much h...

Tuesday, January 31, 2012. Day 2: Keep the Paleo Train Rolling. What up, players? So I survived going 24 whole hours without shoving a single cookie, chip, pizza, burger, or beer down my throat! It took a lot of hard work and dedication, but somehow I was able to eat primally for all of Monday! I must be losing my mind, but Day 1 of the 1 Day Paleo Challenge was such a success, I've decided to stretch this bad boy out to a second day. Behold, I am officially on Day 2 of the 1 Day Paleo Challenge! It defi...

Saturday, March 31, 2012. Today is Saturday, ergo I went to sparring and got my face punched in yet again. I've pretty much learned to accept that my nose is going to bleed at some point between 1-2pm on Saturdays. Wednesday, March 28, 2012. Baby Reveal: Boy or Girl? So you can expect more regular updates. Somewhere out there in Cyberland the two people who read this blog just fell to their knees weeping tears of joy. Ali was initially in the want-to-wait camp when we started discussing this early on, bu...
