We decided a Winter Picnic was Good Idea. 14 of us turned up at Ampthill and walked the short distance to Houghton House. Here we are admiring Katherine's Cross which is an early example of a Gothic Revival monument erected by Capability Brown in 1773. On the weekend of 10th February 9 of us went hosteling in the snow. Some of us went down during the day and did a 5 or 6 mile walk after walking from the road down a long steep snowy track through Ranmoor Wood. To Tanners YHA in Surrey carrying everything we needed including food. It is eco friendly Green Beacon Hostel in National Trust woodland. The photos...

Trip to Sheen Bunkhouse in Derbyshire March 2011. 13 of us had another enjoyable weekend away in March. The sun shone for the majority of the time enough for shirtsleeves some days. It was a cold frosty start, but we were dressed warmly and the sun soon came out to make it a beautiful day. These are of the ruin of Clophill Church. Abandoned St Marys Church. Is estimated to be up to 400 years old. There have been reported incidents of satanic rituals at Clophill Church. We came back via Silsoe,.

In August a party of us visited Arundel YHA just before it closed. It was one of our favourites and will be sorely missed. It was tucked away down a small lane at Warningcamp and had a nice patch of grass outside which campers could use, and the younger generation loved the freedom it gave them! A folly in the distance on the way to Arundel.
