http://cwbell64.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Saturday, 11 October 2014. Tophill Low Nature Reserve. Tophill Low Nature Reserve. Tophill Low, Watton, Near Driffield. There were high hopes of a cracking early morning when I set off for THL this morning, with the sun rising over the fields on the way over the Wold's from Scarborough to Watton, but poor visibility was endured for most of the morning from Driffield onwards, which limited viewing in the short time I had on site, but still all was not lost as shown below. Saturday, October 11, 2014. Follo...

Duffbirder meets South Holderness!: Fleeting glimpses
http://duffbirder.blogspot.com/2015/05/fleeting-glimpses.html
Duffbirder meets South Holderness! Sunday, 17 May 2015. We braved the strong wind this morning and took Bud on the beach at Spurn. He loves the sea and is completely fearless. Not many birds abut or birders for that matter which was a bit surprising for mid-May? Still we continues our walk. We'd just reached the Canal bank when I noticed something unusual in a distant bush. Medium sized and stocky, then a flash of white rump. Could it be? P107, S.87). Then they were gone! Again I pointed and shot. Subscr...

Tophill Low Nature Reserve is situated four miles from Watton village on the A164 Beverley to Driffield road. The reserve is open daily from 9am to 6pm. Visiting outside of these hours is only available through reserve membership - to obtain this please look here. Wildlife and Landscapes: Gannets, Gannets and More Gannets
http://cwbell64.blogspot.com/2015/08/gannets-gannets-and-more-gannets.html
Sunday, 2 August 2015. Gannets, Gannets and More Gannets. Gannets, Gannets and More Gannets. Off RSPB Bempton Cliffs. After a cancellation the week before, off I sailed with Steve Race and Yorkshire Coast Nature on a 'Diving Gannet Experience' from Bridlington Harbour, to the foot of RSPB Bempton Cliffs. Just as my usual luck the heavens opened just after leaving the harbour on the one and half hour motor out to the reserve area, but decent clothing and plastic bags kept me and the equipment dry. Wildlife and Landscapes: September 2014
http://cwbell64.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, 18 September 2014. Long Nab, Burniston, Scarborough. First sighting for myself on a very dark and misty evening after work of a Dotterel. After a long search and a couple of walks round the Nab, the bird appeared near the path in front of the hut and actually walked towards a couple of us out in the fog looking for the bird. Well worth the cold and damp and quite happy with the picture considering 2000 ISO setting on the camera due to the dark. Http:/ cwbell64.blogspot.co.uk/. Web and Blog Links.

Sunday, 20 October 2013. Scarborough Castle Headland (In search of Migrants). Scarborough Castle Headland (In search of Migrants). A total of 5 or 6 hours was spent around the Castle Headland looking for migrants with the first 3 or so hours spent in horrible wet conditions and then 2 or so hours in better brighter conditions. Apologies for the quality of photographs as the weather and light was poor all day and the birds were mainly in cover, but at least I got a couple of good shots of the Chiffchaff.

Tophill Low Nature Reserve: Habitats
http://tophilllow.blogspot.com/p/habitats.html
These are where the outfall from the treatment works goes - basically a concentrated jet of daphnia and other food. Currently the lagoons are managed for breeding wildfowl with nationally important numbers of pochard using them. The most important stretch of woodland flanks 'D' reservoir and is home to many typical woodland species. Although atmospheric and wild, the woodland was only planted 50 years ago. In 2010 a new pond was excavated in the centre of the woods which is already popular with d...An ar...
