Gina's Blog: Frustration.
http://ginalonginotti.blogspot.com/2008/08/frustration.html
Monday, August 18, 2008. Ms Gina, are you crying? Time I was there, as they kept trying to send me away to do things, when I kept mentioning that I could do those things right then without leaving and coming back. Finally, after much shuffling of my papers, copies, forms, and explanations, they said for me to call back in 10 business day. . I have surpassed my participant goal, but I am here, do I keep going and how far? Erin A. Loskutoff. August 19, 2008 at 12:32 AM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Wednesday, August 20, 2008. 160; . It is a busy and yet leisurely place. I speak mostly of Georgetown, as it is what I know best. It is Guyana, at once foreign, if not unheard of by many, and yet simultaneously familiar in its differences, to me. The point of anthropology, after an undergraduate degree in the field, has come back to me here as a nurse researcher in Guyana, many (! August 22, 2008 at 5:34 AM. Gina's Blog: By land and by river II
http://ginalonginotti.blogspot.com/2008/08/by-land-and-by-river-ii.html
Tuesday, August 12, 2008. By land and by river II. At Adel's, on a creek off of the Pomeroon River, where we were the only 2 guests staying at this odd little place. Long story. Highlight: we had 2 tarantulas living with us in our bedroom. Yes, and they were huge and creepy! Have I mentioned that this is a country with pirates. On the Pomeroon, I could totally imagine pirates sailing or speeding up and down the river. In some ways it felt like going back in time. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Notes from an accidental anthropologist. Wednesday, December 17, 2008. The rift valley. stunning. expanse of low vegetation and innumerable herds of sheep, goats, cows, and a few donkeys. i believe i sighted as well a zebra (a real zebra! Either that or a rather clever donkey masquerading as such. and some gazelles or impala. clearly, i have yet to master my 'east african wildlife' guide. And requires special cooking skills as it starts off looking like flour but when cooked more resembles porrige. i...

I generally occupied myself taking photos while in shaoshan, many of which include the gorgeous lotus blossoms i have seen from afar, but hadn't yet had an opportunity to see closer up. they do indeed make wonderful subjects for photography! wandering vermonter: prepared for heartache on the eve of departure
http://wanderingvermonter.blogspot.com/2008/12/prepared-for-heartache-on-eve-of.html
Notes from an accidental anthropologist. Thursday, December 11, 2008. Prepared for heartache on the eve of departure. Somehow this week is almost over, and with it, another flurry of final assignments for the semester. i have vivid recollections of physical and academic discomfort while pumping out nearly 40 pages in the last few days, but this has all been vastly overshadowed by the fact that tomorrow is 12/12, which means i finally get to go to africa! And perhaps brush up on (= learn.) swahili.
