Eat Beantown: Pizza wars!
http://eatbeantown.blogspot.com/2010/01/pizza-wars.html
Food, culture, and cooking in Boston. Saturday, January 23, 2010. How long have I been sleeping? The gauntlet: frozen pizza, readily available in my local megamart, no meat, no trans-fats, no doctoring by me. Ready to meet the contenders? January 26, 2010 at 11:58 AM. My vote goes for Dr.Oetker. Salt of the earth.
Eat Beantown: A Hotel for All!
http://eatbeantown.blogspot.com/2009/11/hotel-for-all.html
Food, culture, and cooking in Boston. Saturday, November 14, 2009. A Hotel for All! This evening, in an atypical suburban married-person moment, T and I went to a mall. I know, right? But the thing is, we had a good time. Fall in.to. the. Gap? Well, I fell in and $60 fell out with me! We wandered a little. Something rather surprising and good. A British rebuttal against the idea that the UK is incapable of generating actual chocolate. And rehabbed it into a chic, sleek, temple of chocolate. From her top ...
Eat Beantown: October 2009
http://eatbeantown.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Food, culture, and cooking in Boston. Tuesday, October 20, 2009. Kick the Colonel's Ass. I have held, for some time now, the idea that Boston is one amazing dining city. For such a geographically small town, we really have some outstanding, "world class" (whatever the hell that means) eats. Particularly after my forays into "fine dining". At the top of them all, in all my tries and shared meals and bottles of wine in this city, my absolute favorite has been one singular restaurant: Clio. For a number of ...

Eat Beantown: Tagine smarts!
http://eatbeantown.blogspot.com/2009/11/tagine-smarts.html
Food, culture, and cooking in Boston. Saturday, November 14, 2009. So we did eat at Clio for our anniversary, and the food was awesome, as usual. I broke my usual meat-free lifestyle rules for the genius of Ken Oringer, and all I have to say is that everything we ate was nummy! I figure, if I am going to eat meat, I want it delicious. If so, I imagine that person needs to step up his game to match the timbre of the rest of the orchestra or get out. As for the tagine thing: I got up from the table to the ...

Pittsburgh Food Critic: Moved Out, Move Along, Nothing to See Here...
http://pittfood.blogspot.com/2009/08/moved-out-move-along-nothing-to-see.html
Unabashed, honest, nearly anonymous reviews of food and culture in Pittsburgh from a home-trained foodie. Wednesday, August 19, 2009. Moved Out, Move Along, Nothing to See Here. As you may have gathered, dear friends who read this silliness, I got overwhelmed with work and let the Pittfoodness slide. But the upshot is that I have moved - to Boston. The fun continues, I hope you'll join me at eatbeantown.blogspot.com. Make me feel the love! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Diet coke is unhealthy.
Whiter than White: May 2005
http://karlfest.blogspot.com/2005_05_01_archive.html
I set off boldly into some kind of journal using cosmetic dentistry as metaphor for life. The bleach usually hurts, like a little hammer hitting against the front of your tooth. Now, there's nothing. As cosmetic-dentistry-as-metaphor-for-life suggests, can there be enlightening without twinge? Gain without pain. Does this lead me to suspect the bleach is no longer working? Can I no longer trust my procedures will have any incremental effect. Have I gone as white as I can? Whatever, I have two tubes left.
Whiter than White: July 2005

I set off boldly into some kind of journal using cosmetic dentistry as metaphor for life. As with the Scrabble, I must learn to beat Catherine at Su Doku. Consistently. Posted by karlfest at 2:28 PM. Links to this post. No news on the bleaching front. Last week, during the wine tasting, I noticed a distinct sensitivity along the top left quadrant of my upper set. Is this a freak thing? Is this long term? Posted by karlfest at 2:17 PM. Links to this post. View my complete profile. A talented food person.
Whiter than White: April 2005
http://karlfest.blogspot.com/2005_04_01_archive.html
I set off boldly into some kind of journal using cosmetic dentistry as metaphor for life. It's been 6 months since I started my drive to whiter teeth. I have fillings scheduled for next friday, I best make sure my new teeth will match whatever I deem will be the colour of my 'newer' teeth. So, the last few tubes of bleach must be used before April 29. I'd rather have brighter fillings than not. Wouldn't you? Posted by karlfest at 3:03 PM. Links to this post. View my complete profile. I set off boldly into some kind of journal using cosmetic dentistry as metaphor for life. Scrabble as Blood Sport. Oh my GOD the whole scrabble experiment has gone HAYWIRE. Our office is bickering, spelling inconsistencies are dividing us. I hope I win hee hee. Posted by karlfest at 10:15 PM. Links to this post. Karl is currently in the process of exfoliating in Sydney. I set off boldly into some kind of journal using cosmetic dentistry as metaphor for life. I forgot to mention it, but I absolutely THRASHED Catherine at Scrabble. Someone then warned us that playing games at work might not be in the best interest of the company. I argued it's a linguistic exercise. I haven't really enjoyed work since. Whiter than White: December 2004

I set off boldly into some kind of journal using cosmetic dentistry as metaphor for life. A Tangible Result Part One. Someone noticed my whitened teeth. Phillip noticed they were different. A confirmation that my caustic efforts are paying dividends. I have reached a poignant moment in the process, one where I need to decide - shall I continue down this lightened path? Shall I stop now and remain simply 'lighter'? Shall I become 'Kelvinator White'? With whom do I align myself? Links to this post. Many Ha...

Eat Beantown
Food, culture, and cooking in Boston. Sunday, May 2, 2010. So I have moved a lot in the past year or so - 2 moves (to and from a new city), a new job, 2 trips overseas, you name it. I have also moved a bit on termsof my food-writing interests. And as such, I have focused my sights (and rants) more and more lately onto mostly vegan, high protein, lower-fat dining. so much so, that it really became logical to move the blog, too:. C'mon now, follow me to the new locale:. Seitanic Verses shall be read by all!
