12288;自分の無線LAN対応のノートPCをもって行って、Wi-Fiサービスのあるモーテルやホテルに泊まるととても助かります。前回の旅では、日本で契約しているプロバイダの米国でのローミング電話番号をプリントアウトしてもって気、インターネットにアクセスしようとしましたが、結局アクセスできませんでした。

に国際免許証の申請に行く。国際免許証の有効期間は1年。午後、1時半ごろに着き、申請書を提出、発行してもらったのが3時過ぎ。結構時間がかかるものだ。しかし、その日のうちに発行されるから、まあよしするか。近くの警察署でも扱っているが手元に届くまで2週間かかるから。 12288;1年間に1回の海外でのドライブために2650円はなぁ、と思ったりするが仕方がない。1日当たり180円ぐらい。

12288;午後2時ごろ、 netspeed. に電話する。Hertzレンタカーを借りているとお得にケータイがレンタルできる。レンタル料無料（一定期間）、往復送料無料、基本料無料。自分が選んだのはおまかせスーパープランというので、貸出し15日未満で2000円。1日超過するごとに600円チャージがかかるというプラン。前払い金は3200円。まあ、安心材料として持っていくのも悪くないだろう。 でモーニングをとりながら、旅行プランを立てる。今回はRedwood国立公園やOlympic国立公園などをじっくり回ろうと考えているので結構時間がかかりそう。出発点SEAは3泊4日、終点のSFは2泊3日しか居なさそう（どちらも1日は飛行機の到着、発着の日なので実質マイナス1だ）。 12288;昨年も出発間際にウェブで契約した海外旅行保険。今回も損保ジャパンの 新海外旅行保険OFF!

12288;昨年もそうだったが、ドライブ旅行を立てるにあたっては、Google CalendarとGoogle Mapが大活躍する。 12288;今回は、地球の歩き方「シアトル＆ポートランド」と「アメリカの国立公園」を読みながら、訪問先とドライブ時間を当てはめていく。こういう作業をしていくうちにどうやったら限られた時間で効率よく回れるかが見えてくる。視覚的に時間の流れをとらえられるようになって効果大。 12288;また、立ち寄る先々の宿泊先は、Google Mapで場所を把握するのがよい。本に掲載されているホテルやモーテルは代表的なもので、Motel6やMotel8などのフランチャイズ系のモーテルがGoogle Map検索をするとたくさん出てくる。値段の問題はあるが、どの場所のモーテルに泊まるかによって、チェックインしてからの活動のしやすさが変わってくる。 . 12288;ここまでをきちんとやっておくと、現地に行ってから、パニックにならなくて済む。今日、直前になったがこの2つの準備が完了。
