Environmental Confederation of SouthWest Florida. Lodged a successful lawsuit against the state of Florida to ensure the federal Clean Water Act was enforced in our state. Since then we have been working with local organizations and going to legislative hearings and government meetings to make sure that the state government enacts legislation to set appropriate Total Maximum Daily Loads (TMDL's) of nitrogen and phosphate in our watersheds and enforces said TMDL's throughout the state.

Environmental Confederation of SouthWest Florida. Is financially supporting the preservation of the Old Miakka Schoolhouse. Which is the last remaining one-room schoolhouse in Sarasote County. The building was added to the US National Register of Historic Places in 1986 and is now being used by the Miakka Community Club. Old Miakka Schoolhouse, 15800 Wilson Road, Sarasota, (Old Miakka). Take Fruitville Road east. To the end, turn right onto Myakka Road and go about 2 miles to the Old Schoolhouse.
