6 Months in Bhutan: Sister Feliscitous
http://6monthsinbhutan.blogspot.com/2011/06/sister-feliscitous.html
Wednesday, June 1, 2011. Anyone who went to St. John's Academy will recognize the name. And if Sis Felis was your teacher you'll remember the phrase for which she is best known. Actually, that may depend on your family. In my family she's know for two phrases. One, "I have good news, children." This just before she told my sister's class that she would be moving up to 4th grade with them. Living virtuously right now. Okay (head wag) One hour walk to the Poly to scan my work permit. "No internet? Okay One...

6 Months in Bhutan: The Sacred and the Playful
http://6monthsinbhutan.blogspot.com/2011/06/sacred-and-playful.html
Friday, June 17, 2011. The Sacred and the Playful. In all seriousness, the ceremony is beautiful. And peaceful. And I have no idea when or if I'll have an opportunity like this again. I would say that there were three parts over the nine days that I especially enjoyed. Two were very reverent and one was hysterically funny and fun. The first, although I admittedly don't really. Let me first set the scene. The ninth day of the drubchen begins at 3 AM. I arrived at 4:15 and there were already locals...Which...

6 Months in Bhutan: Buttertea and Baby Monkeys
http://6monthsinbhutan.blogspot.com/2011/06/buttertea-and-baby-monkeys.html
Friday, June 10, 2011. Buttertea and Baby Monkeys. Young Phuntsho came to my door the other morning at 8:40- 20 minutes early for tea time. How lucky! I was waiting to have tea before I headed out to the Poly. He was very excited to tell me that this. Morning it was buttertea. Big smile! So that's how my day started- cool bucket bath, spider in my pants, no tea. He found me a computer to use to send my important emails regarding flights and route permits. I also sent a few equally important personal ...

6 Months in Bhutan: "Are you married?"
http://6monthsinbhutan.blogspot.com/2011/05/are-you-married.html
Friday, May 20, 2011. Such excitement over the King's announcement yesterday! There'll be a royal wedding in Bhutan in October. Excellent news. Much rejoicing. And, I'm sure, some heartbreak. I just wonder if the royal wedding news will increase the frequency with which I'm questioned about my own status. It's been five days in a row now. It's like Mom's being channeled through my Bhutanese hosts. Tsewang: Are you married? Me: No. (smile). Tsewang: Not even once? Me: No. (smile). Tsewang: You are nun?
