The Egham Chronicles

Tuesday, 4 May 2010. Athens in all its Glory. Today, we were up bright and early to have breakfast and be. Escorted off the boat. We had to find a way from the dock to the our hostel which were quite a way from each other. Looking up there was a sign that said a taxi from here to the city centre was only about nine Euros – great! We get in a cab, drive to the city centre and are asked to pay something ridiculous like. 27 Euros – “what? How does that work? Next stop was the Olympic stadium! And then I did.

The Egham Chronicles: I've Travelled Many Rhodes... well...one.

http://www.eghamchronicles.blogspot.com/2010/05/ive-travelled-many-rhodes-wellone.html

Sunday, 2 May 2010. I've Travelled Many Rhodes. well.one. Oh my goodness sleeping in is SO GOOD. one of those things you take for granted. This morning we slept in so late that we weren’t woken by the tour lady but by the housekeeper! Our bad. We were only visiting one island today – not five or more like we usually did so it was very relaxed. Rhodes is this lovely medieval style town which is surrounded by big stone walls. It’s known as the Knight’s Palace and Miranda made a new friend. It has a blue op...

The Egham Chronicles: December 2008

http://www.eghamchronicles.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 31 December 2008. Today was Tate Town. Tate Britain and Tate Modern art museums. Getting there was tricky because today was very cold and very foggy. I think I'm getting better at this whole - it's freezing - business. I add more layers! Anyway we arrived at the Tate Britain and had some breakfast. It's quite strange because no where is open for breakfast before 10 and it's really hard to find cooked breakfasts! We then moved onto the older paintings which included Reubens! Not so many people ...

The Egham Chronicles: April 2009

http://www.eghamchronicles.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 29 April 2009. Ladies and gentlemen of the world. I have now finished my semester at Royal Holloway University of London. I had been waiting for this day for so long and now it's here. it's weird because it feels as if time has flown by but at the same time as if it's taken ages looking back on all the things I can remember of the term. After that I went back to my room to recuperate before dinner with Miranda! It's kind of nice having all the girls back in halls - they are being quiet! Mirand...

Monday, July 07, 2014. Thailand Day 4-5: Chiang Mai - Snakes falling from trees. With 3 days in Bangkok under our belts, we were off to Chiang Mai for the rest of the week! I was ready to be out of the busy, hot city and move on to a smaller, less hot city surrounded by beautiful hills and rainforests! Chiang Mai was definitely my kind of city. It had so much more fresh air, cool breezes rolling down the hillsides and enough once in a lifetime experiences to last us a lifetime! View from our hotel room.

Tuesday, July 08, 2014. Thailand Day 8 - 11: Arriving in Paradise. For the rest of our time in Thailand, Aaron and I were going to lay on the beach and have a second honeymoon (well. actually a third honeymoon if you count Disneyland AND Mexico). We hopped on a plain to the Krabi region on the coast where some the most beautiful beaches in the world can be found! We found an amazing spot called Railay where the only access to the hotel is by boat! On the plane to Krabi! Boat to our hotel. We immediately ...

Wednesday, July 09, 2014. Thailand Day 12-15: The Best beach, the worst adventure, and saying goodbye. The two days of rain gave way to the most beautiful day on our trip and where better to start the perfect day, but on the most perfect and beautiful beach! I had been staring at pictures of Phra Nang beach for months leading up to our vacation and so seeing the beautiful beach in all its sunny glory was surreal! Every picture I captured was like it was straight out of National Geographic. We should have...

Sunday, July 06, 2014. Thailand Day 1-3: Bangkok, Oriental City. This begin the biggest adventure trip of my life! Aaron and I still can't believe that we actually got to go and see and do all that we did! The journey to Thailand was long and arduous, but once we were there a new cultural experience and memory was waiting literally around every corner! Then just a week before we left the curfew was lifted, the protest areas were cleared and all seemed really peaceful. whew. So we were off! We went immedi...

Tuesday, July 08, 2014. Thailand Day 6-7: Elephants, Tigers, and Thai Food. Oh My! This was the day of the trip that I was the most excited about! When I started planning this vacation, I found this tour and it was set on taking it! Riding Elephants, cuddling with Tigers, and seeing Chiang Mai's most famous temple. We woke up bright and early and met up with our tour guide, Donna, who took us to a morning market to pick out our breakfast and some bananas for the elephants! Aaron's turn to try it out!

Sunday, August 25, 2013. Back East Trip: Mertz's Take Manhattan. Ok, that is a bit of a dramatic retelling, but we HAILED A CAB! We were so incredibly proud of ourselves and were basking in the glow of our triumph as we raced throught he city street, passed Trump Tower, Central Park, and then to our apartment. We slept well the night we arrived and then woke up with a full day of exploring ahead of us! Glimpses of sky scrapers in the distance. The Alice in Wonderland Statue. Me and the white rabbit.
