My work shares the common goal of investigating the mind/brain problem, whether it be through surface, form, or relationships. I explore this question through various disciplines including philosophy, physics, biological psychology, sacred geometry, and inquiry into measurement and the scientific method itself. Circles have emerged as a recurring symbol in my surfaces and forms. Circles are prevalent in spiritual symbolism and represent both unity and infinity.

Caution: Artist at Work: November 2011
http://elainebuss.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Caution: Artist at Work. Thursday, November 3, 2011. The frantic clamoring and rushing to get a show up always leaves me feeling like "whoa". after its done. You just get used to the rushing and filling every second of the day with "go, go, go! Then the reception happens, then you're done. and suddenly the blinders drop off and you realize there's a whole world of things you haven't done. And that maybe a couple days away from the studio may do some good for your psyche. So I undertook repainting the desk.

Caution: Artist at Work. Wednesday, May 23, 2012. Just a quick peek. I have been having so much fun working on these new wall boxes I made! Combining opaque and transparent materials on the surface of clay is really doing it for me; I am really excited about the direction these are going! Note: these are studio shots, not portfolio shots! I have been reading a book about string theory lately. I never took physics in college or high school, and I really wish I had! What fun those ideas are! View my comple...

Caution: Artist at Work. Sunday, August 12, 2012. Well hello again.life? I've been a busy beaver, and haven't had time to post in a while. Just got back to NC 2 weeks ago from being at Snow Farm Craft Program for the past month. I taught ceramics for the high school summer program. Living among incredible artists and highly motivated young minds for a month, wow. It was aaammaaaazing! Right before I left I pulled some pieces out of the kiln that I am still excited over. Here are a couple:.

Here is a pic of all of them on a ware cart, patiently waiting to be hung each in their own distinct place:. I did several layers of inks on the surface, then did more detail with prismacolors.
