Learning, discerning, humbly sharing. Ordination vows: “This is what I’m actually doing! In the last week there has been a series of photos going ‘viral’ amongst clergy on Facebook. Thus far I’ve seen at least five different versions posted. I’ve included just one rendering of this supposedly funny and ironic photo. What is this power of which I speak? The Book of Common Prayer,. Will you assume this office, believing that the church’s call is God’s call to the ministry of word and sacrament? Another imp...

The Hokey Pokey, Church Style | Dei gratia
https://belovedember.wordpress.com/2012/08/25/the-hokey-pokey-church-style
Learning, discerning, humbly sharing. The Hokey Pokey, Church Style. No doubt the first part of my title will conjure up an assortment of memories, body movements, and probably a song tune. Love it or hate it, this is a song that is pretty universally known:. You put your right hand in,. You put your right hand out,. You put your right hand in,. And you shake it all about,. You do the hokey pokey. And you turn yourself around. That what it’s all about. The Word of God, not the bulletin! My husband and I ...

About | Dei gratia
https://belovedember.wordpress.com/about
Learning, discerning, humbly sharing. Dei Gratia is a latin phrase meaning “. By the grace of God.”. It is only through God’s grace that I am called beloved. I have always felt that my existence relied on grace alone. Recently, my journey of faith has led me back to the Lutheran Church after a fifteen year hiatus in The Episcopal Church. Thus, I felt the title of this blog apropos. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here. Fill in your details below or click an icon to log in:. Enter your emai...

https://belovedember.wordpress.com/2012/04/05/behold-the-empty-altar-and-remember
Learning, discerning, humbly sharing. Behold, the empty Altar, and remember. We gather today to worship in Word and Sacrament. This day, what we call Maundy Thursday, or Holy Thursday, is the beginning of what is often called The Easter Tridiuum three days of remembering the Passion, Death, and Resurrection of Jesus. The word Maundy comes from the Latin word. We’ve just celebrated the sacrament of Holy Communion. We listened to the words of Scripture tell us the story of that fateful evening and the ...

Learning, discerning, humbly sharing. BELOVED, gaze in thine own heart,. The holy tree is growing there;. From joy the holy branches start,. And all the trembling flowers they bear. The changing colours of its fruit. Have dowered the stars with metry light;. The surety of its hidden root. Has planted quiet in the night;. The shaking of its leafy head. Has given the waves their melody,. And made my lips and music wed,. Murmuring a wizard song for thee. There the Joves a circle go,. Date : October 19, 2011.

Crevice | Dei gratia
https://belovedember.wordpress.com/2013/06/13/crevice
Learning, discerning, humbly sharing. There’s a crevice,. Below which is a deep darkness. Now safety of an unruly kind surrounds this place! Petals used to bloom above,. Memory recalls their sweetness. But years of drought have lasted here. The darkness thirsts for the Beloved,. 8217;tis life…….giving…….water. The footsteps above try to avoid the crevice,. Occasionally reaching down into the pit. Out of gross curiosity,. But it’s too dangerous to risk the fall,. And join the abyss. Till no crack appears!

Learning, discerning, humbly sharing. One of my favorite types of reading material is undoubtedly a book and/or compilation of poetry. Partly because I can pick it up and lay it down without the need of ‘finishing’. I glean a moment of knowledge, inspiration, sorrow, romance, adventure…. and so much more! 8220;Poetry is a deal of joy and pain and wonder.” Kahlil Gibran. Some time ago a precious individual gifted me with a book entitled. Nothing creates greater understanding of poetry and intimacy with it...
