Where Proverbs 31 meets Carrie Bradshaw. Monday, May 23, 2011. For I Must Be Travelling on Now. The third- and, please God, final- installment in the bird saga. So Monday afternoon arrived and a gentleman from critter control was already on a ladder out back when I got home from work. He was putting the finishing touches on the vent cover he’d installed. When I asked him what he’d found he said, “A good bit of nesting material, but no birds.”. Saturday, May 21, 2011. And this Bird You Cannot Change.

Worlds Apart: I'm Twenty-Two for a Moment
http://takethisworldapart.blogspot.com/2012/07/im-twenty-two-for-moment.html
Where Proverbs 31 meets Carrie Bradshaw. Thursday, July 12, 2012. I'm Twenty-Two for a Moment. I was with some people at church recently, just a few of us. Within the group there was a girl I hadn’t met before. I introduced myself and asked if she attended our church and the answer came, “No, I’m just hangin’ out with him” and a gesture to a guy I already know. As the evening went on, there would be times when I would catch her shooting him a sneaky smirk or a sly smile and it got me a little emotional.

Where Proverbs 31 meets Carrie Bradshaw. Tuesday, June 21, 2011. New Definition of Summer Madness. They tell me today is the first day of summer. I was talking to a friend on the phone while he bought ingredients for cupcakes that he planned to take to a summer solstice party tonight. So, whether you’re celebrating summer with a facebook status or with a full-on rager, enjoy the day! I’ve been thinking about how I "celebrate" summer. For me, it’s not summer until…. The car gets inspected. A love letter t...

Where Proverbs 31 meets Carrie Bradshaw. Friday, July 15, 2011. Do You Believe in Magic? I don’t know how I managed for so long to live in this age of movie sequels without attending a midnight showing. So tonight (this morning? I crossed it off my bucket list by attending the 12:01 showing of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. With my good friend Laura. One poor soul, dressed as a Death Eater complete with mask, was asked by the security guard to remove his mask while in the building. Our ...

Worlds Apart: Come Ye Thankful People, Come
http://takethisworldapart.blogspot.com/2011/11/come-ye-thankful-people-come.html
Where Proverbs 31 meets Carrie Bradshaw. Sunday, November 20, 2011. Come Ye Thankful People, Come. When I got to my parents’ house yesterday my mother greeted me by saying, “You’re just in time.” This could mean many things when my mother is involved, so I was a little worried. It turns out. I was in time to help them move things from their garage to the attic. My dad climbed into the attic, I stood on the ladder, and my mom handed me various items they wouldn’t need for a while. It probably annoys them ...

http://takethisworldapart.blogspot.com/2011/11/its-most-wonderful-time-of-year.html
Where Proverbs 31 meets Carrie Bradshaw. Sunday, November 27, 2011. It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year? It is Sunday, November 20, 2011. As I walked out my front door this morning, I picked up the newspaper. What I could read through the bag said, “Holiday Countdown Inspiration.”. I shook my head, and added this to the list of ways Christmas comes too early. And all the other women around probably nodded their heads in agreement. Because, as little kids, the days leading up to December 25. It’...

Worlds Apart: September 2010
http://takethisworldapart.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Where Proverbs 31 meets Carrie Bradshaw. Saturday, September 18, 2010. I, for One, Don't Turn My Cheek for Anyone. Dear marketers of toilet paper,. Today, I found myself overwhelmed by the packages of toilet paper in my grocery store. The closet where I keep my toilet paper has a nook just the right size for an 8-roll package. Specifically, 8 normal-sized rolls of toilet paper. Not 8 double rolls (equivalent to 16! Not 8 mega rolls (enough to cover the Captiol Building! In the end (! I wound up choosing ...

Where Proverbs 31 meets Carrie Bradshaw. Thursday, July 19, 2012. I Break the Yolks and Make a Smiley Face. I remember hearing on the news that the town where I live has the distinction of buying the most fast food breakfasts of any city in the U.S. I don’t think I contribute too much to that statistic, except that for the past year, I’ve met with my small group girls every Sunday morning at McDonald’s. Ah, the Egg McMuffin. Canadian bacon, not obnoxious ham. A delightful slice of cheese. Earlier this ye...
