From the kitchen to the great outdoors. June 19, 2014. At my book club when we read “The Orchardist”. In the fall, I decided warm spiked apple cider would be the perfect drink. Use crock pot, add one gallon of fresh apple cider, slice an apple, take out the seeds, add 2-3 cinnamon sticks and place 6-12 cloves in apple slices, add to pot, simmer until warm. Fill greased mini muffin tin halfway with batter, add 1/6 piece of hot dog to each muffin (ideally Hebrew Hot Dogs). Bake 7-10 minutes at 350. Serve with nice condiments. From the kitchen to the great outdoors. June 19, 2014. My mother taught me how to make French Onion Soup before I went to college. She said it’s a great staple because it’s cheap, onions are good for you and it’s easy to make. 2 T Herbs de Province. 6 T Worcestershire Sauce. 6 T Soy Sauce. 1/4 cup red wine – cheap stuff is fine. 2 T cracked pepper. 1-2 cubes bouillon (veggie or beef). Mince garlic, thickly slice onions 1/4 inch. Serve with sliced bread toasted with cheese, garnish with fresh herbs.
