He Society hosts a wide variety of events and fund raisers throughout the year, including the annual Mayfest celebrations, Garden Ganza and new in 2006 A Log House Tour, as well as monthly programs to raise the historical consciousness of our local population. Usiness meetings start at 7:00 pm followed by the monthly programs, which start around 7:45 pm and last about an hour. All meetings/programs are open to Society members and the general public. The Maytown Historical Society's Gift Shop is located in the museum at 4 West High Street, Maytown. The Gift Shop is open on Sundays from 2:00pm - 4:00pm, May through October or by appointment by calling (717) 426-2786. Our selection of Maytown Pottery for sale includes large plates, spoon holders, crocks with wire handles, quart crocks, half-pint crocks and bird houses. N 2002 the Society took a bold and significant step: we saw the realization of a 17-year dream, by purchasing a site for our museum. This log structure may be the oldest structure in the village, likely dating from 1760. This log house was erected by or for Jacob Downer to attract residents for the village of Maytown, on land he located on the Great Road West when this was the path to America's Western frontier.
