Ellis' Wildlife Walks

Some of my birding adventures! Wednesday, 22 July 2015. Yesterday evening news popped up of a Golden Oriole. In Thirsk which is only about half an hour away so as you probably expected we were soon ready to go! We got a little lost at first but thankfully we found the fishing lakes where it had apparently been spotted. A few Yellow Wagtails. On the way in was a very nice bonus. We started walking towards the lakes on where it had been seen by and it came to our luck that we saw it straight away! Afterwar...

Ellis' Wildlife Walks : Scotland Trip 2015!

http://www.elliswildlife.blogspot.com/2015/06/scotland-trip-2015.html

Some of my birding adventures! Tuesday, 9 June 2015. On the 22nd of May we went on holiday to Scotland, we stayed near Inverness and we weren't far away from many bird filled sites, I couldn't wait to get there! I look forward to this holiday every year as sometimes you just don't know what you will see and in the past I have had many great surprises! Passed straight over the car! This day started of quite well with a Black Grouse. By the road and a possible Mealy Redpoll. And a Lesser Redpoll. Also we s...

Ellis' Wildlife Walks : October 2014

http://www.elliswildlife.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Some of my birding adventures! Sunday, 26 October 2014. This weekend we went to Spurn because we wanted to see the Premier of the Spurn Migration Festival DVD and hopefully while we were there add a few bonuses to our trip. The day started of with some ringing at Wheldrake Ings which was a great start to the weekend. We rung around 50 birds which included Blue Tits, Great Tits, Long Tailed Tits, Coal Tits. And a single Willow Tit. We also rung Dunnocks, Tree Sparrows, Chaffinches. And some Mute Swans.

Ellis' Wildlife Walks : Brilliant Blacktoft!!!!

http://www.elliswildlife.blogspot.com/2015/06/brilliant-blacktoft.html

Some of my birding adventures! Tuesday, 23 June 2015. On Sunday we took a visit to RSPB Blacktoft Sands in hope of seeing the drake Ring Necked Duck. And also we wanted to see the Montagus harriers. Again We were hoping to get slightly better views of them. We arrived about 2ish and then we started our walk round the reserve but before that I managed to find a Robin. Nest next to the reserve which is my first one so I was very happy! A very nice bird to see! On the water. We then went to the Receptio...

Ellis' Wildlife Walks : Super Scaup!

http://www.elliswildlife.blogspot.com/2015/05/super-scaup.html

Some of my birding adventures! Monday, 18 May 2015. In the last couple of weeks I have been busy with exams and revising for them so I haven't been able to get out as much as I wanted to but thankfully this weekend we managed to get out. We decided we would have a visit to Wintersett Reservoir in hope of seeing the Lesser Scaup. Which had been present for several weeks. It is fitted with a red nasal saddle on its beak where you can see that it was tagged in Portugal! So it has come quite a way! It swam r...

My Natural World: June 2015

http://sueimnw.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

Discovering nature and photography. Sunday, 28 June 2015. Can't believe I forgot to include Leeds Castle in my last update. Again, not a birdwatching trip as such, but plenty of wonderful birds there, and in one of the most beautiful settings you can imagine. The lake, moat and gardens have swans, geese, ducks and other birds aplenty :. Peacocks roam the grounds, and for the first time ever, I saw peachicks :. There are raptor displays at Leeds Castle too :. Caught a few shots of dragonflies too :. And f...

My Natural World: September 2014

http://sueimnw.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html

Discovering nature and photography. Friday, 26 September 2014. Random thoughts from September. September has been a busy month for me, but not so much for walking or birdwatching unfortunately. I have been out a few times, so I've compiled some of the moments I particularly enjoyed. I went to Standen for the first time earlier this month. It's a lovely place to wander round, with beautiful views across the surrounding countryside, and it was good to see Robins out and about. Monday, 1 September 2014.

My Natural World: June update

http://sueimnw.blogspot.com/2015/06/june-update.html

Discovering nature and photography. Thursday, 25 June 2015. I've not been out and about much this month, which has been particularly frustrating as the weather has been so good. My garden has fortunately been full of life, particularly with young house sparrows, starlings and goldfinches all competing for attention and food. Down by the seaside I've also been lucky enough to watch terns diving - spent a good hour watching them - no camera though. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Biff's Birding: July 2014

http://birdingbiff.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

Hi, I am a young 15 year old naturalist who specializes in birds. I travel to my favourite hotspots for birdwatching. St Just in southwest cornwall and the Exe estuary being my most exciting locations. I have recently started ringing and do it in Swindon normally, I am a trainee. I will be uploading what I've seen and where. Monday, 28 July 2014. Ringing: Marlborough Downs 21st June 2014. Hi, yet another early morning but worth it. Brilliant day out that really built my confidence in holding the TS pulli.

My Natural World: August 2014

http://sueimnw.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html

Discovering nature and photography. Friday, 29 August 2014. Kingsborough Manor Community Woodland. This is a wonderful place I've just discovered. It constantly surprises me how many places there are to enjoy walking and discovering new natural wonders. At the moment it was a little quiet on the bird front, though there were House Martins skittering around and above the treetops, a Green Woodpecker's distinctive call. But there were butterflies and dragonflies galore! Friday, 22 August 2014. I also saw t...

My Natural World: July 2014

http://sueimnw.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

Discovering nature and photography. Saturday, 26 July 2014. Butterflies, dragonflies and horse flies. I spent some time this week at Oare and at Elmley. The sun was shining strongly, the heat produced a shimmer in the air and the light made viewing difficult, but there was a cooling breeze that made it lovely just to walk around. See Robs Birding blog if you want to see more on it.). For me the highlights that day were the butterflies and dragonflies, including this Small Copper - the first I'd seen.

Walker's Wildlife Photography: Local Wildlife

http://walkerwildlifephotography.blogspot.com/p/garden-wildlife.html

Some of my favourite photography experiences. Bird Boxes For Sale. Close up with nature. End of the Nesting season. Spotted Flycatcher parent on nest incubating 4 eggs. The parents had nested on a large tower around 100m away which had failed. What was interesting is that the birds were a lot more skittish when the nest was lower in the second nesting attempt about 3m of the ground as apposed to 10m but even more when there were young chicks (1 or 2 days old). Robin eggs (From 2 metres back). Red kite - 1.
