About | year of the (downward-facing) dog
https://elovinyoga.wordpress.com/about-me
Year of the (downward-facing) dog. For two years, I taught a weekly Creative Movement class for preschoolers at the language school where I worked, in a suburb of Taipei. In addition to being very young, they were all learning English as a second language, so I also communicated through body language, expressions, visual cues, picture cards, music and repetitive language. Which will give me a better understanding of teaching yoga to children and families. Teachers, and parents! Leave a Reply Cancel reply.

Year of the (downward-facing) dog. In Taiwan, kids have a long winter break before Chinese New Year, which falls in mid-February this year. While their parents still have to work, many after-school programs change their schedules to accommodate the needs of families who depend on schools for child-care. I’ll be posting stories, pictures, and lesson plans on this page! Day 1: Thursday 1/21. Teacher calls out instructions like “go walk, go crawl, go hop” and when she says “Stop! Rock (Child’s pose). So the...

Wednesday, September 29, 2010. A few days ago, my first-graders learned the word "brave" (via a story about firefighters, naturally). I asked some of them, individually, whether or not they are brave- just curious about their answers. Teacher Elly: Sam, are you brave? Sam: (stretching and yawning) Um, no.
