emily makes things

Thursday, February 10, 2011. A week of sick days. Phew, I'm finally feeling back to normal after a whole week of being sicky! I have to admit, however, that I slept in every day and managed to get quite a lot of non-dyeing work done. Though I planned to make a lot of progress dying yarn and some long long overdue fiber this week, the prospect of lugging heavy pots of water all over the place was too much for me to think about! I also finished these cutie pie socks. Soon to be a finished pillowcase! My pl...

emily makes things: August 2010

http://emilymakespancakes.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html

Wednesday, August 25, 2010. I've neglected the blog quite terrible lately, but there are a few very exiting reasons for it! Just in case you haven't heard, the lovely ladies at the Purple Purl. Are planning a Featherweight. KAL using MY YARN! You may remember my featherweight cardigan. It may have given me a bit of attitude while I was knitting it, but was entirely worth while in the end. I love it! I want to knit another, but can't seem to settle on a colour.life is full of such difficult decisions!

emily makes things: January 2010

http://emilymakespancakes.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html

Wednesday, January 20, 2010. A few yarny pics. Most of these colours have already found good homes, but I'm just so excited about them I have to share! The next big challenge will be replicating them (wish me luck). So I know that there are A LOT of pictures, but I just can't help myself. Still nothing up on my Etsy store, but I hope to get my act together very soon! I'll keep you posted. I've just cast on Damson. In a lovely gold-y/orange-y colour that I quite like.I've named it Marigold. I have a lovel...

emily makes things: Disaster has struck...or close to it

http://emilymakespancakes.blogspot.com/2010/06/disaster-has-struckor-close-to-it.html

Friday, June 11, 2010. Disaster has struck.or close to it. Well, I think it happened because I was so confident in my last post; my granny square vest-thing looks ridiculous. So sad. And just thinking about all the ends I would have to weave in was making me feel a bit sick. I'm sure that It's against the rules, but I think I'm going to count this as one of my 12 sweaters for this year. It was briefly in a sweater shape after all! On a happier note, my woodland yoke sweater is knitting up really fast!

emily makes things: a quick hello

http://emilymakespancakes.blogspot.com/2010/09/quick-hello.html

Monday, September 6, 2010. As promised, I've been running around like a crazy person for the last couple of weeks. Preparing for my first trade show (Yay, Hooray! Has been quite a lot of work. The knitter's fair. Is less than a week away now, and I'm just finishing up little bits and bobs that I've forgotten/neglected up until this point. I'm bringing 2 new yarns that I am quite excited about. Who on earth doesn't get excited about cashmere? The colour pictured is new, and it's called graphite. That's al...

emily makes things: Knitter's Fair

http://emilymakespancakes.blogspot.com/2010/09/knitters-fair.html

Monday, September 13, 2010. The Knitter's Fair this past Saturday was not only loads of fun, but also a great success! My little booth was abuzz with yarn and fiber lovers; I was so happy to see familiar faces and to meet some new knitters as well. And can't wait to see some new Viola projects pop up on Ravelry :). I took loads of pictures of my booth - sadly there are all under icky fluorescent light - but hopefully you'll get the idea. My sister Sarah, adjusting something important, I'm sure. Hi Emily,...

Colour – Emily Foden | flohaus

https://flohaus.com/2010/08/16/colour-emily-fodden

Laquo; Blue Sky – The Tea Bag Solution. Antiques – My favourite find. Colour – Emily Foden. August 16, 2010 by flohaus. Colour inspiration comes from many different sources and Emily Foden was mine last week. Emily hand dyes her yarns! Here’s how she does it:. She starts by covering up her beautiful white kitchen and white floors with plastic. Emily is very neat. Not one drop went on the floor when I was there. If it were I, a 10-foot perimeter would have to be covered. Wetting the yarn first, she puts i...

Stitchin' Bitch: January 2014

http://vrock-inreallife.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html

Knitting vrock = awesome. real life math in action. Wednesday, January 29, 2014. Almost a week late with a post, but I'm on track with the daily knitting! I'm on to the real patterned part of Harvest Dew now, I made it passed the ribbing. In my last post, I shared all my new upcoming projects to be done with my latest Knit Picks order, and I'm already making solid progress on my Polar Bear Chullo for Slim Jim. Here is an earflap:. And in fact, I have two of them! What's a hexipuff blanket? Tons and tons ...

Stitchin' Bitch: December 2013

http://vrock-inreallife.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html

Knitting vrock = awesome. real life math in action. Tuesday, December 31, 2013. New Year's Rockin' Eve. Welcome to the end of year round up, readers! I've been cramming in a bunch of final projects all this week as 2013 comes to a close, and I've even started and finished a project or two. As of today, December 31, here's what's kicking around my house. Norie was started and finished in two days, because I'm a dork and if I'm not at work, my fingers will find knitting. It's a compulsion. The palm of the ...

Stitchin' Bitch: June 2012

http://vrock-inreallife.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html

Knitting vrock = awesome. real life math in action. Wednesday, June 27, 2012. It's been a great big week of knitting and knitting related activities, and this post won't even cover the knitting part of it. It was World Wide Knit in Public Day on Saturday June 9, what did you do to celebrate? Everyone likes to hear about stuff I bought, so let me satisfy your craving:. My haul from Shall We Knit? Have you heard about Soakbox? I also got a sampler of Soak scentless for just showing up to the fun! I missed ...

Stitchin' Bitch: December 2014

http://vrock-inreallife.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html

Knitting vrock = awesome. real life math in action. Monday, December 22, 2014. We've got a hot crustacean band. I'm winding down another year of knitting, readers, and I'm planning for a knit-filled 2015. There are babies in my future (not my future, someone else's future, but this directly impacts me) and little babies need little knits to keep their little bodies warm and cozy. I've been favouriting baby things like a mad person on Ravelry, and I'm full to the brim with baby knits lust. My list of baby...

Stitchin' Bitch: Sardines on toast

http://vrock-inreallife.blogspot.com/2015/02/sardines-on-toast.html

Knitting vrock = awesome. real life math in action. Friday, February 13, 2015. Back to the knits. I took my double knitting striped set idea and made it into a thing, but I'm not entirely happy with how it turned out. I bought yarn at Shall We Knit? In January, and I was pleased as punch to find clearance baby yarn in exactly the colours I was looking for. Mega score! The hat was a similar story, where I followed a basic baby hat pattern and adjusted for my double knitting gauge (which is a whole lot loo...

Stitchin' Bitch: March 2015

http://vrock-inreallife.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html

Knitting vrock = awesome. real life math in action. Sunday, March 15, 2015. Huzzah for the shopkeep! I want to knit all of the baby things. When I search around on Ravelry for projects, I'm drawn to the itty bitty little baby things, and the cute little stuffed animals and dolls. I'm really into these crochet dolls right now:. They're by lalylala designs. And there's a whole series of them. I'd like to get one of these under my belt before nugget is born so I can hopefully make a whole fleet of them.

Stitchin' Bitch: October 2013

http://vrock-inreallife.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html

Knitting vrock = awesome. real life math in action. Thursday, October 24, 2013. Look at the size of that nut! I like a good knitting challenge, readers. Here's the back story: I work at a museum, and we have traveling exhibits that come in for 4-8 months at a time. Currently we have a trees exhibit, which is aimed at families and small children, and one of my coworkers asked if I could make her an acorn to use during demonstrations with the kids. Of course I could. Enter the Little Acorn Project Bag.

Stitchin' Bitch: November 2013

http://vrock-inreallife.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html

Knitting vrock = awesome. real life math in action. Monday, November 25, 2013. The bees are everywhere! Back in September, I spent my morning at Culture Days. At Joseph Schneider Haus. Readers. Ever been? The K-W Knitters' Guild was there in all of our knitting glory, promoting our guild, our craft, and hopefully teaching a few people how to knit. Around 10:30, my morning shift partner arrived with the Guild banner, and I had some company. The day was lovely, it was bright and sunny, and I hope that the ...

Tuesday, September 3, 2013. The Noise of Emotions. How can we know for certain that the choices we make are exactly the perfect will of God? Why would it seem that he directs us into places of service only for us to be attacked and wounded by our brothers in the faith? Unglued: Making wise choices in the midst of raw emotions. She’s Gonna Blow: Real help for moms dealing with anger. Defuse: A mom’s survival guide for more love, less anger. First of all, I needed to admit my emotions to God. Rule for wome...

Learning To Make Pies

Learning To Make Pies. The trials and triumphs of pie baking! Monday, November 28, 2016. Thanksgiving was a lot of fun this year. We had a chance to see Rob's Father and my parents in two glutinous days. This year I made a pumpkin pie from a sweet pumpkin. I had never done this before because Martha Stewart told me that canned pumpkin was just as good. Rob had his heart set on a traditional pumpkin pie so I had fun giving it a go. Sunday, November 20, 2016. Pie Chart. Literally. Sunday, November 13, 2016.
