Monday, August 31, 2009. August update -family trip to Normandy. And although we had a good time with all the cousins (20 people were staying at my mother-in-law's house), we did not do as much touring as i would've liked -no Paris and no Normandy beaches. But the weather in 'Haute Normandie' was amazing - every day low humidity, sunshine and in high 60s (actually, like today, as i write this! So back to square one - extra pounds and injury - arghhh! Did get lots of painting photos and ideas! 8/24 ran 6 ...

Tuesday, January 12, 2010. Watchung winter ultras - Jan 9, 2010. That it was about 20 degrees and the race started at 8 am -brrr! Thankfully 2 water stations were on course as even though it was cold we were working hardand were thirsty! And get credit for the 50K. It was such a great feeling to go up the final hill and see the aid station in the parking lot - and the best thing - Johnny walker black label shots were waiting. Frank was in the car shivering so we took a few photos, talked to my friend...

Jan 8 with the 'recovery from the holidays' fat ass 50K, which was put on by the. MHRRC in Straatsburg, NY .it took me and Frank C., along with other friends, alot of effort to navigate the snow-covered roads of the 3 mile loops course -. A beer at the new Hyde park brewery, and since the sun came out, and I finished, it was a successful day. The NYRRC held the Manhattan 1...

Wednesday, December 16, 2009. Roxbury Marathon and taconic relays -12/12 and 12/13. Lots of snow on the ground! The course went through the town of Roxbury. I had never done the free Sat.am Roxbury road race series as the town is north of Danbury and just too far to drive for a training run, however scenic and low-cost (this I reserve for Westport and Norwalk! Big problem - the weather wassupposed to be 18degrees at the start with a wind chill of 10 - lovely. Next post -Taconic relays. Greenbelt 50K -May...

Thursday, January 13, 2011. Wow-seems so long ago (July 2010) that I updated my blog.2010 was definately a year that was crammed with races, and had its highs and lows in terms of performance-. I also ran some high mileage weeks -many weeks close to 100, and averaged 50 miles a week-maybe 55. My total miles for the year were 2848. Walking would put the total over 3000! Over the course of 2010, I did. 2 100 milers (Umstead and VT). 3 50 milers and over (Joe K. 12 hour (59 miles)jfk and bartram Forest).

Thursday, January 13, 2011. Recover from the Holidays 50K-Jan 8, 2011. After a month-long 'break' (following the dec 11 bartram forest 100K), I finally toed the line at a 50K.Frank and I had gone to the new year's marathon but 2 feet of snow foiled the efforts of most of the runners to do the full distance.we ran the 1/2 marathon in knee-deep snow covered trails and that was enough for me - I was moving for almost 3 hours! So, appropriately, it snowed again on Friday, jan 7,. The next day I ran the Bosto...
