Emusing Acres

Monday, 3 October 2011. Birds of a Feather. The first blush of fall. Fall The leaves start changing colour and dropping from the trees. We can delay the moult and keep the egg production up by extending their 'daylight'. It's simple really, lights in the chicken coop on a timer to maintain the appropriate number of light hours will keep them laying through the winter. We've decided not to. Though not as extreme as this (usually). They do get fairly bald in the process! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Emusing Acres: July 2011

Sunday, 31 July 2011. For the Love of Goats - Shut the Door! Okay, who came up with the saying "What, were you raised in a barn? When complaining about people not shutting the door behind them? Let me assure you of this: if you were raised, in, around, or with a barn in the neighbourhood, you know darn well to shut the door. If you haven't lived with them and spent a good deal of energy trying to prove you are more clever, it can be hard to understand goats, I get that. Nanabelle was very sick. I don...

Emusing Acres: September 2011

http://emusingacres.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 13 September 2011. It still happens every year in rural Ontario, many hamlets, villages and wee places like our own, gather together and celebrate local talent, interests and bountiful harvests. This past weekend was ours. Competition categories for kids range from crafts to baking; the farmers compete with the best samples of their crops, the local gardeners enter flowers to beets and even fight for bragging rights for the largest weed. Each bale weighs about 30 pounds, and yes I did haul my share! During (note the hay level vs the signs now. And Abby on the highest beam). Abby popping up through the hay shute. 24 birds in a ...

Anyway, I decided to transfer this idea to my bullet journal, since I’d been thinking of having some doodle pages in it anyway. Links to this post. I often seem to use purple on his cards for some reason - I've made some mountain and skiing ones for him in the p...
