Inspiring Word: June 2008

Tuesday, June 24, 2008. Praying In the Spirit. Praying In the Spirit. By Larry d. Wright. Prayer is both a natural and unnatural process. It is natural for a child to cry to their Father but there are times when even a child does not know what to say. Words fail to rise to the surface of our lips and even when they do, they seem inadequate. In "Letters to Malcolm" (p.70), C.S Lewis reflects this dilemma as he quotes some anonymous lines:. 8220;I seek in myself the things I hoped to say,. My wells are dry.

There is little doubt that we are currently involved in a world-wide economic crisis that is causing great FEAR (False Evidence Appearing Real) to engulf many Americans, including Christians. I am not sure that I understand what caused this crisis other than old fashioned greed and years of bad decisions, nevertheless, we find ourselves at a critical crossroads. Larry d. Wright. Inspiring Word: December 2007
http://inspiringword.blogspot.com/2007_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 31, 2007. For What It’s Worth. I love dogs. Every young boy needs two things growing up: a puppy and a mother who will let him have one. Actually, what a boy really needs growing up is a father and a mother who keeps him. I tolerate cats. Dogs have masters. Cats have staff. I know the words to "Louie Louie" but if I told you; first, we would both be embarrassed and then, I would have to kill you for the sake of national security. I don’t believe Harvey Oswald acted alone. Vietnam was not...

Friday, March 14, 2014. How to be Unhappy with Your Church. 1 Don’t participate, merely consume. If I had to say the one thing holding the American church back today, it would be a consumeristic culture. We’ve come to expect that the latest technology comes standard in our cars. Our movie theaters should have wide rows with extra padded seats and that lean way back. 2 Criticize your leadership. Yeah, kinda. Unbiblical, sinful, illegal, harmful? By ‘performed’ and ‘audience’ I just...We would do well to r...

Lurking in this shadow is the great beast, depression—slithering through the house as the family arrives, waiting for an opportunity to steal your joy. Satan loves to use good memories to bring pain. The fond remembrance of how it used to be can become a sea of sadness because it will never be just like that again. Inspiring Word: Transitions
http://inspiringword.blogspot.com/2009/02/transitions.html
Thursday, February 5, 2009. By Larry d. Wright. 8220;On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, ‘Let us cross over to the other side’.” Mark 4:35. By definition, transition is the passage from one state, stage, subject, or place to another. It is a change involving a movement, development, or evolution from one form, stage, or style to another. The etymology of the word is Latin meaning “to go across.”. Crossover moments in life are exciting but they can also be frightening. I don't know ho...

Greg...isms: 23 Things Love Is
http://pastorgreg527.blogspot.com/2015/02/23-things-love-is.html
Friday, February 13, 2015. 23 Things Love Is. Being willing to have your life complicated by the needs and struggles of others without impatience or anger. Actively fighting the temptation to be critical and judgmental toward another while looking for ways to encourage and praise. Making a daily commitment to resist the needless moments of conflict that come from pointing out and responding to minor offenses. Being lovingly honest and humbly approachable in times of misunderstanding. Being willing to inv...

Greg...isms: When Things Are Bad--Does My Faith Hold?
http://pastorgreg527.blogspot.com/2015/01/when-things-are-bad-does-my-faith-hold.html
Tuesday, January 27, 2015. When Things Are Bad- Does My Faith Hold? 8220;The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit” (Psalm 51:17)—that of a spirit God has made glad by a great forgiveness. The sign of this kind of broken heart is that the saint is untroubled by storms, and undismayed by bereavement because he is confident in God. Reflection Questions: When things go badly, do I see it as an indication that I have been mistaken about God’s leading or about God’s love? What better explanation is there?
