Andrew Gesicki's ENG 112 Blog

Andrew Gesicki's ENG 112 Blog. April 27, 2010. Dear Future Redhawk,. Welcome to what will become the four best years of your life. In just my first year at Miami I have come to love our amazing campus, dedicated professors, and overall college experience. Before coming to Miami I was full of nerves; what would my roommates be like, would I like living with people I barely knew, how hard were my classes going to be? There are a bunch of opportunities to meet other freshmen, and other older studnets as well.

Andrew Gesicki's ENG 112 Blog. March 30, 2010. I think that Spieglman chose to be the narrator himself because he didn’t want the story to be told in the first person perspective. If his father would have been the narrator then details of the account may have been left out, Spieglman being the narrator is like an unbiased party telling the story. More details and information of the event can be exposed by an unpartizan writing the story. Laquo; Blog 10. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.

Andrew Gesicki's ENG 112 Blog. April 22, 2010. Individual and United Power: A Clenched Fist. Marjane Satrapi uses the image of a clenched fist to exhibit individual and group power. The clenched fist is a universal symbol throughout many cultures that signifies solidarity, strength, and defiance. This repeated graphic is characteristic of Satrapi’s main point of writing. It exposes the reader to the true reaction of the citizens to the repressive Islamic government. Laquo; Blog 14. Enter your comment here.

Andrew Gesicki's ENG 112 Blog. April 3, 2010. Satrapi’s use of the veil is highly purposeful. The veil that she was forced to wear as child is symbolic of the suppression she had to suffer. The Iranian revolution that Satrapi details in her graphic novel was the result of this suppression. Citizens of Iran wanted to be free to live the lives they wanted to, without governmental intervention and oversight. Laquo; In-Class Blog 11. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. Enter your comment here.
