ENG264: Thomas Carlyle

http://eng264mignonclark.blogspot.com/2007/06/thomas-carlyle.html

Victorian Ladies and Gentlemen. The Subjection of Women vs A Vindication of the Ri. View my complete profile. Monday, June 11, 2007. I really enjoyed reading about Thomas Carlyle and reading his work. Thomas had strict parents. I believe his parents was his foundation for contributing to him being a hard worker. He valued the thought of hard work. He had a good education by attending the University of Edinburgh. Therefore, he had the foundation to be an extraordinary writer. Very good job in this posting...

Victorian Ladies and Gentlemen. The Subjection of Women vs A Vindication of the Ri. View my complete profile. Friday, June 1, 2007. Felicia Hemans’ poetry from a woman’s point of view. Also throughout the introduction, I could understand why some of her writings were heroic yet gruesome. She had five children, deserted by her husband, and had to go back home to mom. What woman wouldn’t be torn by such an act? I can’t fathom killing children for any reason! Excellent job with this blog posting!

Victorian Ladies and Gentlemen. The Subjection of Women vs A Vindication of the Ri. View my complete profile. Monday, June 11, 2007. I get excited when I read about a woman playing her part in the poetry world! I am all about happy endings! I hated the fact that her father disowned her but she was happy and she expressed this in Sonnets from the Portuguese. She felt she was dying until Richard came along as she states on page 530, “Guess now who holds thee? In closing, I am happy that Richard came along ...

Victorian Ladies and Gentlemen. The Subjection of Women vs A Vindication of the Ri. View my complete profile. Friday, June 15, 2007. The Subjection of Women vs A Vindication of the Rights of Woman. Good idea to revisit Mill's essay in conjunction with Wollstonecraft's. Although Mill never mentions her (probably because had he done so he would have weakened the persuasiveness of his argument, so notorious was her reputation), he was aware of and had read her Vindication of the Rights of Woman.

Victorian Ladies and Gentlemen. The Subjection of Women vs A Vindication of the Ri. View my complete profile. Monday, June 25, 2007. Congratulations on having reached your 20th posting! Very perceptive and insightful exploration of Woolf's text here. You always seem to find a good way to relate the text to your own experiences, and that helps make your blog interesting. June 25, 2007 at 11:37 AM. I think that you did an exceptional job of interpreting and relating to Woolf's writing. Hello This post is l...

Arctic Encounters

Thursday, March 22, 2018. Is the first feature-length film to be written by, directed, and star Inuit people (1911's The Way of the Eskimo. Who replaced him, was both a more capable and a more handsome leading man, and the magnetism between his character and Atuat (a brilliant performance by Sylvia Ivalu) is palpable. PS: For those having difficulty keeping track of the characters, families, and relationships depicted in the film, I've scanned a chart. There's also a collection of stills. I realize that ...

ENG 263: The Love Story

ENG 263: The Love Story. Dec 15th, 2016 by young18. The air in the house was stale. Dust modes floated down the green-tinted shafts of light from the stained-glass-covered dark wood door. Ken opened the front-facing bay windows, letting in the chilly September air. Harriet placed the urn on the coffee table and pushed her hands into her coat pockets. Do you want anything to eat? Ken said as he strode over to her, placing his hand on the small of her back. Continue Reading ». Dec 15th, 2016 by gullicksen18.

Romantics to Moderns

Monday, June 27, 2011. The Lady in the Looking Glass. I love the way this piece starts! Woolf immediately starts by telling how the looking glass, like a "open cheque books or letters confessing some hideous crime," tells all that needs to be said. The looking-glass tells the truth about the mistress of the house, Isabella. It tells all that she does not wish known. She leads a mysterious life as a spinster and in the mirror we see what I sabella projects to the world:. It's funny how we often make assum...

Monday, June 23, 2008. I'm not gonna write you a love song. Women are the root of war? Was there another Troy for her to burn? 1118)" This creates in my mind that the attributes the men gained from being in the war were more highly treasured than the death that may have ensued.
