England to India | An Epic Cycle Journey For Charity
http://www.englandtoindia.com/about.html
A little bit ABOUT ME,. Since you ask. I'm 19 and currently reside in London, where I do business with the public as a charity fundraiser. I've spent most of my life in the comfortable South of England and have had itchy feet since about the age of 15. I want to do this cyle trip for the spectacular scenes I'll see, the people I'll meet, the new cultures I'll observe and for the challenges I'll face. St Margaret's Hospice is a CHARITY. Welcome to 'England to India', my solo charity mission to. I'm Jude Kriwald and on June 16th 2012 I set off on a 10,000 mile journey from busy Yeovil to beautiful India, passing through 18 countries over approximately 10 months! Firstly, I should clarify that I've never done anything like this before. I once cycled 30 miles to the Isle of Wight ferry, but only to save money. This is to raise. Please click here to donate.

The map below shows my journey all the way from England to Amritsar in India. Between any two neighbouring bicycle icons you can see where I started and finished the day. The exceptions, such as the plane within Afghanistan or the thumbs (hitch-hiking) in Central Asia, have notes attached when you click on the icons. The blue and red bicycles in Tajikistan show times when I cycled but had to turn back. View England to India. In a larger map. For the route so far! Please click here to donate.

Monday, 27 August 2012. Do watch it, it took me several hours to compile as I have thousands of photos to choose from. Below it are two bonus videos from Istanbul. Having fun in the Saturday night traffic. The road has an unparalleled ability to bring you close to another person in moments of time so short that you may trust someone with all you have, all you are, while in the same period back home the ice may still not have even begun to melt. England to India: The Tibet Diaries, Part 2 - Crossing the High Tibetan Plateau While Hiding from the Police

Monday, 16 December 2013. The Tibet Diaries, Part 2 - Crossing the High Tibetan Plateau While Hiding from the Police. Before I continue writing up the end of my journey to India, here's a quick real time update. I arrived back in England on July 24th having flown from Mumbai via Kuwait. I intended to cycle the last leg of my journey from Heathrow Airport to my house in Bath but I soon realised something was up. The next day I was in hospital. View England to India. In a larger map. Tuesday, 15 May 2012. Anyway, I'm hoping that somehow doing this trip will satisfy that feeling, as there is no better way to experience what the world has to offer than to cycle through it. Over the last few weeks I've thought of a few other ways of expressing why I'm doing this trip, although they probably all boil down to the same thing:. 1) Because it's awesome. 2) Because there's nothing better to do (if I didn't do it, what would I do that's greater? Also, it turns out that the grandfather of a clo...

Thursday, 26 July 2012. Today is my 41st day and 3000th KM! All you need: A bike (literally any bike will. Do), put a rear rack on it and get some panniers (all can be got from Argos for around £50). A tent, sleeping bag and nothing much else as I've got all the specialist stuff and have done all the planning already. It would really be a cheap holiday for you (flights the only major expense); I currently spend less than 10 Euros a day and that will go down soon! This is my email address. Over the next s...

Sunday, 31 March 2013. Pride of Somerset Youth Award. We are so close to breaking the £3,000 fundraising milestone. I kindly ask that someone does the honours and smashes that milestone for me and the hospice! I'm about to cycle up a 4,000m mountain and it would be really nice to come back to see that the total raised has gone up a bit more. Dig deep people! Click here you lovely people. Please read more about it here (with a photo! That's a big mountain to have to cycle up! Saturday, 2 March 2013. In th...

Friday, 26 April 2013. Tajikistan - In Depth. Blog posts can be a struggle. Sometimes I cheat by putting a load of photos into a slideshow with some emotive music and feel pretty happy with myself but most of the time I have a strong desire to really enable you, the reader, to get a sense of what it's like living alone on a bicycle in these parts of the world. Before Tajikistan I cycled and travelled in Afghanistan. You can view that entry here. For a bit of context. View England to India. In a larger map.

Thursday, 13 September 2012. Turkey has been very good to me. I have met more locals and tourists here than anywhere else on my journey. Not a single day goes by in which I don't drink çay (tea) with Turks or Kurds on the side of the road, whether it be outside a cafe, in a dominoes room (the equivalent of bingo in Turkey) or someone's home. The first night away from Istanbul and missing people already. Climbing over a 900m pass while the motorway stayed low, using tunnels. Four days to Samsun. Having br...

Wednesday, 10 April 2013. When I was at school and struggling through exams and coursework, I was constantly reminded by my Mum to do my best. That was all she expected of me.
