Julia's Sewing Blog: I'm back!
http://juliasewing.blogspot.com/2011/09/im-back.html
In which I make some clothes, expound on the virtues of the flat fell seam finish, and proclaim "you CAN sew your own clothes, and even wear them in public". Monday, September 26, 2011. I seem to have taken the entire summer off and more. Good for me! You can check out a bit of a holiday we had in New York State, if you are interested, at my Flickr site here. I folded the bias around the raw edge and folded under the ends and sewed the whole thing down. I also pick stitched all around the neck edge, to k...

A Tailor Made It: week 17 = relative calm?
http://atailormadeit.blogspot.com/2015/05/week-17-relative-calm.html
A Tailor Made It. Costuming, tailoring and pattern making for the theatre with an emphasis on menswear. Week 19 and 20, so far so good. Week 18 begin again. Week 17 = relative calm? Week 16 with trim! View my complete profile. Sunday, May 10, 2015. Week 17 = relative calm? Well that was a crazy couple of weeks! It also has horrible static cling, so the legs kind of clung to the actor in odd ways. Not good. Note to self- just plead for real leather or suede! It is a tale of woe, and a mistaken belief in I...

A Tailor Made It: September 2014

A Tailor Made It. Costuming, tailoring and pattern making for the theatre with an emphasis on menswear. View my complete profile. Thursday, September 25, 2014. Oh my gosh, time flies. I feel as though I have lost a month somewhere. So back to it. I did feel a bit out of my element at first. Just the scale of the patterns felt unfamiliar and so small. Of course when the patterns for the other costumes are for men with 48" chests or who are 6'5" tall it doesn't help. Here is my waistcoat toile after the fi...

Wearing labels says youre one of the boys - wearing bespoke says youre a man. Shirt And Vest for Loc. Dec 10th, 2010 at 4:20 PM. I recently made a new friend - Loc. Loc dresses VERY well - he appreciates the finer aspects of clothing as well as what it means to have garments bespoke made. There's an aphorism bespoke tailors like to use in order to inflate their egos - When you wear a label you're one of the boys. But when you wear bespoke you know you're a man. Who am I to argue! Julia's Sewing Blog: The linen outfit and then PJs and a robe
http://juliasewing.blogspot.com/2010/01/linen-outfit-and-then-pjs-and-robe.html
In which I make some clothes, expound on the virtues of the flat fell seam finish, and proclaim "you CAN sew your own clothes, and even wear them in public". Thursday, January 21, 2010. The linen outfit and then PJs and a robe. I accidentally deleted a set of photos at Flickr (I still don't know how I did that) and they all disappeared from my blog. So I had to edit the last entry and stick them all back in there. I also don't think I am going to put one on this jacket. Maybe if the fabric was plain ...
