TEFL Teacher Thoughts: Teaching is brilliant - here's why...

http://englishteachercz.blogspot.com/2009/10/teaching-is-brilliant-heres-why.html

Sunday, 11 October 2009. Teaching is brilliant - here's why. I want to talk honestly for a few minutes about why on earth anyone would choose to spend the best and most productive years of their life teaching English to foreigners. Let’s face it, a lot of us who teach full time either fell into this job or started out with the intention of having a means to tour the world and just sort of carried on in the job for one reason or another. Cosmic karma kudos distil as dews upon the soul! Places worth a Visit.

TEFL Teacher Thoughts: Making controlled practice interesting

http://englishteachercz.blogspot.com/2008/08/making-controlled-practice-interesting.html

Thursday, 28 August 2008. Making controlled practice interesting. Everybody who has done CELTA or a similar TEFL type course should know that after you have presented a language point you should then engage the students in some controlled practice. But, having been on the recieving end of the exam-like repetiveness of endless gap-fills that this point in class proceedures duly demands, I know that it can be the epitome of tedium. 3 Distribute them to the students at random. 8 Give them enough time to com...

TEFL Teacher Thoughts: October 2009

http://englishteachercz.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 14 October 2009. Music - to use or not to use. I'll be dead honest and straight here by saying first off that I love music in the classroom. I know, however, that some of my colleagues just hate it and give a ton of reasons why music shouldn't be used in the classroom - and some of those reasons are 100% valid. Students lower their volume too and soon every one is whispering like their in a library. and I can't stand whispering. Sunday, 11 October 2009. Teaching is brilliant - here's why.

Kids, parenting and life in the Czech Republic. Tuesday, 26 October 2010. How mad can I really get? Trying to keep perspective. Don’t you know how busy I am? 8217; or the oh-so-dangerous ‘Can’t you just leave me alone? Yesterday, Radka spent all day at University and I was home with about 3 hours of online work to do in the midst of looking after the youngest boys and dealing with the comings and goings of the older children between their school and hobbies. Dad's Pad: March 2010

http://parentscz.blogspot.com/2010_03_01_archive.html

Kids, parenting and life in the Czech Republic. Saturday, 13 March 2010. Czechs and their Flats. Putting all this together I’m sure you’ll understand my gentle, thoughtful, I-understand-your-point-but-am-mildly-concerned-about-your-mental-health look when my wife recently told me that she’d rather have lived in the city, in such a place, than in our small family house with a large garden just 12 miles away in the rolling hills of. Kids, parenting and life in the Czech Republic. Thursday, 22 September 2011. Some thoughts I wrote down on the bus journey home yesterday:. Me Granddad’s dead and I’ve got time to think. Of a life gone by in a breath and a blink. I’ve got time to wonder when it’s said and done. If the days and nights were lost or won? I think he did fine, my Granddad, I hope,. He should be alright, he struck the right note. In the songs that he sung, I think that he was. A pretty good singer, and I think that because.

Kids, parenting and life in the Czech Republic. Saturday, 20 February 2010. You see, my sons are insane. Instead of luxuriating in duvet heaven for the first couple of hours, they bounce up at 5.30 in the morning, dress, get breakfast and dive at the various implements of pixelated paradise that we have around the house. I’ll emerge from deftly dispatching the demons of my deeper dream states to the harmonious honks of the youngest’s seventh rendition of. 8217; and ‘No! Die, die, die! Links to this post.
