Rob and Carley: QUETZALTENANGO (XELA) - OUR HOME!
http://robcarley.blogspot.com/2005/05/quetzaltenango-xela-our-home.html
Wednesday, May 18, 2005. QUETZALTENANGO (XELA) - OUR HOME! The dominant 16th century church next to Xela's central park. Located in the western highlands of Guatemala, Xela (pronounced SHAY-la) is the 2nd largest city in Guatemala. Still it has the feel of a small city (there are only around 100,000 residents) and it’s a fraction of the size of the capital, Guatemala City (around 3 million), with much less crime. Parque Centroamericana, the central plaza in downtown Xela. Students, mostly young adults...

It’s cool to be alive. Always forward, no regrets / [a semester away]. 03/19/2009 • 6:58 PM. We don’t owe nothing to no one. I’m still alive! In Xela, and Sarah, who’s been on the road for a while now but who fits right in (she sleeps with the rest of us in Bed City, the increasingly chaotic pile of mattresses in the main bedroom). Thursday, November 20, 2008. Take a Deep Breath. So, I've decided to get a new one. In the meantime, I do have a few photos, and I've used some from the internet to show you the places I've been. I hope Best English School isn't reading this right now. On Sunday I'll be heading out to Tajamulco Volcano, which is the largest peak in Central America. People say it isn't as bad as the next biggest, Santa Maria, which is at more of an incline. We'll be getting up at 4 in the morning, can't wait!

Saturday, September 27, 2008. Liberia To Change or Not to Change. Liberia now sports a small casino, ironically the windows are decorated with blow up shots of Liberia´s past from the 1800´s rodeos to the 1950´s building of the Liberia airport (which sat unused for a while until the tourist boom). Liberia now hosts the only place in the world where you can see Africa for about a third of the price of the ticket! I hope it works. Http:/ picasaweb.google.com/laurenb1981/Liberia. GuateBlog de Lauren: And so this is Christmas
http://adventuresinlatinamerica.blogspot.com/2008/12/and-so-this-is-christmas.html
Tuesday, December 30, 2008. And so this is Christmas. Let's stop all the fight.". Well, this is Christmas in Xela. The winter nights are getting colder, but Xela is brightly decorated with red and green lights, a blow up snowman stands in the park, and creepy christmas tones play slowly inside the tiendas out of tune. Remember that John Lennon Christmas song? For rich and for poor ones.". For black and for white.". Entre Mundos worked hard to finish the last anual report, and the latest issue of the maga...
