Baroque Simplicity: July 2013
http://baroquesimplicity.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Monday, July 15, 2013. Best known as an art dealer and collector, antiquaire, interior and furniture designer Axel Vervoordt. Is so much more. To my mind his real brilliance is as a curator. The Vervoordt curatorial aesthetic has best been displayed through a trilogy of exhibits exploring the universality of art. The first was Artempo at the 2007 Venice Biennale in the Palazzo Fortuny. Monday, August 26, 2013. This amazing baby ostrich belongs to an East Hampton antique dealer whose name I promised not to reveal because he is a top secret source of my friends. They took me to his house to see his beautiful and totally unique personal collection. Of all his objects I was completely captivated by this strange little creature. Links to this post. Monday, May 12, 2014. Gerrit Rietveld (1884-1964) was best known as an architect and designer belonging to the influential De Stijl movement known for its simple forms and rectangular shapes. It is his marvelous chairs that I have always admired. Although he began designing and fabricating them them as early as 1917 they continue to strike me as cutting edge and very contemporary. Some of my favorites follow. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). FAVORITE BLOGS AND SITES.

Monday, August 27, 2012. NY INTERNATIONAL GIFT FAIR. The New York International Gift Fair (August 18-22) is a strange and wonderful experience. After navigating bizarre and badly designed products there are glimpses of what I consider examples of truly great design. I am always inspired. In the next few weeks I will be posting photographs of various products that caught my interest for one reason or another. The following photos are of the LA based company ARTECNICA. Baroque Simplicity: WINTER BEAUTY
http://baroquesimplicity.blogspot.com/2014/12/winter-beauty.html
Tuesday, December 9, 2014. This time of year is among my favorites. The bare winter landscape allows us to appreciate the forms of trees and plants when all of the leaves have vanished. There seems to be a cold bluish cast to the light. Following are photos from the shop that I think of as reflecting the feeling of winter. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
