The state that i'm in. Thursday, February 22, 2007. Independent with an Eye. A note about the article: the background image is called "Vintage Tools" and is a mixed media piece by Syracuse artist Tara Hogan. You can buy a print of it here. Or see more of Tara's work here. I'm sorry that this information wasn't made clearer in the magazine itself. Posted by Jason Ohio. Sunday, February 18, 2007. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and I have the urgent need to blog about something like this.

Sunday, March 25, 2007. Although she hadn’t played music for more than thirty years, one day she picked up one of the guitars around the house and began playing. The state that i'm in. Sunday, January 28, 2007. The shameless plug of a syracuse fine art printer). These evolution people are up to something. Every ‘zine worth its salt has an agenda. What are they doing up there, on the 5th floor of “that building”? I’ll tell you one thing, they’re sure not building a mall expansion or a tourist resort. Revolution? This progressive speak is aiming to throw the status quo in Syracuse on its ear. And it’s about fucking time. A similar number of volumes have described h...

The state that i'm in. Friday, July 20, 2007. About a month ago, I arrived in Brooklyn after over two years of living in Syracuse. During the past few months of personal transition, I've obviously not been maintaining this blog or making creative work or documenting my experiences. What have I been doing? I hope the new and improved format will lead to improved content. If there are any links out there for this page, please switch to my wordpress page instead. Thanks. Posted by Jason Ohio.

the state that i'm in: Independence Day

http://www.eponymouspress.blogspot.com/2007/07/independence-day.html

The state that i'm in. Wednesday, July 4, 2007. Tonight, I saw the fireworks from Sunset Park. you could see three launch sites along the East River, with the closest being right next to The Statue of Liberty. Something about the way the colored lightbursts reflected on the glass skyscrapers reminded of past July fourths where I used to watch fireworks and their reflections over Eagle Nest Lake or maybe the scenic views over Syracuse from the water tower in Thorndon Park. Fading Symbols of Rural Life. The New York Times has a beautiful photo essay of American barns. Sounds a little cheesy, I know, but the photos are sad and lovely and make me think of home. Connecticut is offering preservation grants to people who own barns over 75 years old. The barn pictured above was built in 1828. Fading Symbols of Rural Life (NYTimes). Posted by Sarah Lohman. Ephemera: A Brief Introduction

http://historical-ephemera.blogspot.com/2006/12/brief-introduction.html

This is me, at age 16. Every morning, over the course of four summers, I slid into my voluminous petticoats and strapped on my corset and went to live in the 19th century. I had needed a job, and a few years previous my mother had risen to a semi-management position at a local “living history” museum. Employment was gauranteed, and it seemed an acceptable alternative to working at the "Piercing Pagaoda.". And that is what this blog about: How I see the 21st century, after living in the 19th.

Last Photo of Lincoln Before his Death. This is probably old news to all you history nerds out there, but a new photo of Lincoln has been discovered, possible the last taken before his death. It's actually a photo of the White House- but there's a tallish, bearded figure standing on the lawn that the experts are pretty sure is Lincoln. I write because I want to others to know. To know what color rain is from inside of my eyes - what airs of laughter are on the ear and deep, musky smells to the nose and taste of her on my lips and neck. I remember. I wonder. I believe. I love. I bitterly despise. Theres pride and passion and longing and empty words. Immortality: on a shelf, on a rack, on the web or hidden away beneath intimates in the back of a drawer with other musselin bindings of sacred memories.
