The Center focuses on the development of optimized EPR imaging technology to directly image important aspects of in vivo physiology. Instrumentation and methodology is developed in Denver in support of the in-vivo physiology done at University of Chicago. Spin probe and spin trap syntheses are done at University of Maryland. Magnets: contact George Rinard. Resonators: contact George Rinard. Bridge and overall spectrometer design: contact Richard Quine. Timing technologies: contact Richard Quine.

250 MHz Spectrometer | EPR Center | Natural Sciences & Mathematics | University of Denver
http://epr-center.du.edu/250mhz.html
CW, rapid scan, and pulsed EPR data acquisition is based on the Bruker Elexsys E540 spectrometer system. A 4-coil air-core magnet for 90-G center field was locally design and constructed. It is shown with z-gradient coils installed. Pulsed RF amplifiers have been produced that have good fidelity for short pulses and turn off to within 10-20 dB of thermal noise level in ca. 80 ns after the pulse. Deadtimes as short as 200 ns have been achieved using the cross loop resonator and dynamic Q-spoiling. Magnet ...

The lab contains several EPR spectrometers including commercial systems manufactured by Bruker and Varian as well as home-built systems, at EPR frequencies ranging from 250 MHz to 34 GHz. Pulsed and CW EPR are available over this range. DEER capabilities are available at both 9 and 34 GHz. Liquid nitrogen and liquid helium temperature ranges are accessible for many of the resonators over this range of frequencies. Collaborations on these topics are invited. Rapid Scan EPR | EPR Center | Natural Sciences & Mathematics | University of Denver
http://epr-center.du.edu/rapidscan.html
In rapid scan EPR the magnetic field is scanned through resonance in a time that is short relative to electron spin relaxation times. Since the time on resonance is short, higher B. Power saturation curves for the E' signal in irradiated fused quartz for four rapid scan rates. The power that can be used without saturating the signal increases with increasing scan rate. The point that corresponds to the acquisition conditions for the spectra shown on the right is circled in red. Comparison of rapid scan a...
