http://maja-in-norway.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, August 19, 2010. Wednesday Aug. 11. The day I've been waiting for has arrived! The bags are packed! Really, really packed, as in full.) I am flying to Norway (via Toronto, Boston, and Iceland). It took a while. I didn't feel sad to leave Edmonton because I think in my head I had already been leaving for a while. But I was a bit sad to leave people. At the most, 11 months! Kalli and Emma came to visit me in the Toronto airport. It was great to see them! Thursday Aug. 12. Friday Aug. 13. In the e...

Tuesday, June 14, 2011. Backcountry ski trips Part 4: Hardangervidda Solo Trip. Here is the last of the ski trips I went on! It was Easter time and most of the other students from Bø were traveling Europe. But I didn't feel finished with skiing yet so I decided to spend my Easter in the Norwegian way! What I had with me. Goodbye road, cars, people. a bit nervous to leave on my first long solo trip! I started at 8pm at Haukeliseter and skied UP UP UP until it was dark, then skied down a bit in the dark an...

maja in norway: November 2010
http://maja-in-norway.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Saturday, November 27, 2010. I'm still around :). It's about time I write something else here. 'Cause I'm definitely not still in Finland. Like I said, my camera is broken, but I will find some photos from other people (without their permission. hope it's ok). That's coming up quickly, especially if I'll be traveling a lot during the Christmas holidays. So I would like to have some good training until the end of January. Photos from a real Norwegian hytte! Beautiful view from the cabin in Rauland. Instea...

maja in norway: March 2011
http://maja-in-norway.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 30, 2011. It's warm and sunny and I can hear water gurgling and see grass again. Yes, the winter is already over and it's that season again. the one where I complain about it being impossible. To run in Breisås and keep one's feet dry. (This season includes spring, summer and fall. Everything without snow can just be lumped together.). It is also essay writing season. I was a little antsy. See how sunny it is outside? Tuesday, March 29, 2011. Emil would want us to smile again.

maja in norway: April 2011
http://maja-in-norway.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Thursday, April 14, 2011. Lately I've just been hanging around my house, doing homework and hobbies and enjoying the spring. Most of the snow is melted and plants and finally starting to bud. It was over 20 degrees here on the weekend! Everyone is out tanning and barbequeing. I finished the longest assignment I've ever written (13,000 words! I saw a moose in the forest a few kilometers from my house. A delicious brunch with friends. Spring is construction time. She in the middle is also named Maja! I was...

maja in norway: December 2010
http://maja-in-norway.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Sunday, December 12, 2010. My last test was Thursday and it was followed by a few nights of visiting friends, having dinner together with them, and parties. Now I'm enjoying some time alone in my room. I'm leaving Bo on Thursday and feel like I have a lot to do before then. First of all, 2 assignments to finish up and then a lot of errands and planning. I wanted to catch up on telling you what else I did this semester before I leave and have new stories to tell. I went to an aerobics with Terri, and it w...

maja in norway: October 2010
http://maja-in-norway.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, October 26, 2010. At the time that I'm writing this it has snowed in B ø, but we will travel back in time to hear about the sunny and warm and busy. The weather this week was amazing, so the main goal was to go outside a lot! There was no wind, barely a cloud in the sky and it was at least 10 degrees. The trees turned yellow and red. You could tell that the chilly fall weather would come soon, but it wasn't here yet! Plus I won't have Monday morning classes for the rest of the semester! Didn't a...

maja in norway: February 2011
http://maja-in-norway.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, February 16, 2011. If you don't stop making that face, it will freeze that way! And here's the reason. Last Sunday I grinned constantly during a long ski at Lifjell. I think this was the coolest place I've been with cross country skis on! I was shuttling some friends who were going backcountry skiing at Lifjell. Turns out there are also tracks groomed for cross country there! So I went for a ski on the mountain! Steep up and down mountainsides. Past cabins and up windy valleys. It was great...

maja in norway: Backcountry ski trips Part 2: "Winter Mountain"
http://maja-in-norway.blogspot.com/2011/06/backcountry-ski-trips-part-2-winter.html
Tuesday, June 7, 2011. Backcountry ski trips Part 2: "Winter Mountain". First day at Haukeli. The second winter trip part of my study program came the day after I got back from the trip described in the previous post. It was 9 days, but didn't quite feel that long. Our group in front of Haukeliseter lodge. Sander's huge snowpack examining hole. The weather was beautiful when we set off: warm and sunny. But by noon it had clouded over, begun raining and was quite windy! Maggie after a nice slope. There is...

http://maja-in-norway.blogspot.com/2011/06/backcountry-ski-trips-part-3-study-trip.html
Sunday, June 12, 2011. Backcountry ski trips Part 3: "Study Trip". Now it's getting more interesting! The third school trip was called our "study trip", which we students plan and do on our own (no teachers anymore! It was 8 days. EIGHT DAYS! It's a long time, no? I haven't camped outside in the winter for that long before! Our group and all our gear at the start. Have you meet Wooly? First day skiing out of the trees. Snowprobe dancing" was invented here. Lukasz on a windy summit. At the end of the trip.
