Dave Castle's Blog: Returned from the Far North
http://davemcastle.blogspot.com/2009/10/returned-from-far-north.html
Friday, October 2, 2009. Returned from the Far North. Last week I returned from my contract with GAP Adventures in Norway, Greenland, and Iceland. Between the wildlife, scenery, and company the trip can easily be summed up in one word, UNBELIEVABLE. (if you haven't noticed that word is becoming a trend on this blog). Over the course of 14 days we saw 10 polar bears, 5 Walruses, countless seabirds (including a white Gyrfalcon and a Ptarmigan), an arctic fox, arctic hares, whales, muskoxen.

Sunday, June 28, 2009. Went hiking today with Erica, Alec, Ben and Carol. We went to Silver Star Mountain. It was unbelievably beautiful. Pictures can't do it justice. (really, they can't). Photo by Erica Melville. Saturday, June 27, 2009. The ride was beautiful. Dave took pictures of me while riding on the other side of the road while I yelled at him to get out of the way of oncoming traffic. Erica T. Melville. Friday, June 26, 2009. Monday, August 17, 2009. Heeeey, Mount Hood. Erica and I fled from the craziness of Portland this weekend and went for a two day trip to Mount Hood. After much deliberation, we decided to hike to Elk Cove in hopes of seeing an elk (um, right). The night was cold but nothing we couldn't handle. When we woke up we had a nice view of Mount Hood from the tent and ate a few bagels from Kettleman's (real bagels). Thanks, Mount Hood. Monday, August 10, 2009. Trip to Log Jam and Poison Oak Falls. Dave Castle's Blog: Eagle Creek Trail
http://davemcastle.blogspot.com/2009/07/eagle-creek-trail.html
Thursday, July 30, 2009. Erica and I took a day off and did a two day hiking trip on the Eagle Creek Trail. The trail is very popular but once you get 3 or 4 miles in the flip-flop wearers dwindle and you have a nice peaceful hike. We hiked in to a site near 7 1/2 mile camp right next to the creek and a small waterfall. Monday and Tuesday were two of the hottest days in Portland, we were hot but not miserable. We took a few dips on the hike out to cool off. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).
